#EveryChildMatters September 30th is Orange Shirt Day, honouring the Indigenous children forced into Canada’s residential school system. This annual event started in 2013 when Phyllis Webstad shared the story of her first day at St. Joseph Mission Residential School in 1973 when she was just six years old: Phyllis arrived at school excited, wearing the shiny new orange shirt her grandmother bought her, only to have it taken away from her and never given back. Today we wear an orange shirt to acknowledge and create meaningful discussion about the effects of residential schools on our Indigenous communities. We encourage everyone to listen to the stories of the survivors and their families, and remember those that didn’t make it. Learn more about Orange Shirt Day at www.orangeshirtday.org

We can’t believe summer is finally over! It was an extraordinary summer to say the least but we are very happy we were able to run our programs safely with our new guidelines.
