With community prevalence of COVID-19 back on the rise, now is the time to review and understand important modifications to resuscitation algorithms while working in a hospital during the pandemic. #PEDS #PALS #Resuscitation #StaySafe #Healthcareheroes Key principles for cardiac arrest and intubation: - Always don PPE before entering the room, do not rush in - Limit number of personnel attending the event... - Use cuffed endotracheal tubes and prioritize intubation early during resuscitation - The most experienced airway provider should be available to perform intubation - Pause chest compressions for intubation - Utilize high-efficiency viral filters when providing manual and mechanical ventilation - Consider use of video laryngoscopy for intubation; and use of a laryngeal mask airway (LMA) in the event of a difficult or unsuccessful intubation Source: Heart & Stroke Foundation (2020) Visit the link below from Heart & Stroke for more information on COVID-19 modifications for resuscitation algorithms. https://cpr.heartandstroke.ca//COVID-19-Interim-CPR-Algori
