Shining Horizons therapeutic horseback riding association is looking for volunteers this spring! They are a non profit based out of Hampton that provides therapeutic horseback riding lessons to individuals with various cognitive and intellectual disabilities. If you or anyone else you know is interested in volunteering, they will be running training sessions in a couple of weeks. Absolutely no horse experience is necessary. This is an incredibly meaningful and rewarding organization. Please email [email protected] for more information.
Sadly, we are currently not giving lessons or doing pony parties.
http://energydiet.canadiangeographic.ca//vi/143/6286/young One of VCAs students made this video. Would you vote for it. Watch it through and at the end it will ask you to vote. Thanks!
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that I will no longer be giving riding lessons or doing birthday parties. Laurie and I started Pegasus Pony Pals in 1999. Being the "pony lady" is something I am going to miss!
Drill work for two with the Fjords?? Could be fun, Kristen Hatt or Chris Hatt!!
It is with some sadness that we announce that there will be no summer camps. For those of you who have attended, you know that our university students: Catherine, Miranda, Luc and Elise did a fantastic job running these camps. This year, however, these awesome young adults are moving on other things. I wish them all great success as they move forward.
I have been asked about the animal control by-law 031, on the treatment of pets in Quipamsis. I think it is heavy handed and unforgiving, family pets should not... be sent to a kill shelter in Moncton. It makes no sense, when we have the Saint John SPCA less than 20 minutes away. Pet owners should not live in fear for their pets, as they are at the mercy of the animal enforcer, who on a whim can decide whether your pet lives or dies, or harass pet owners. This by-law as it stands now makes the town look like it lacks compassion and empathy. This by-law is in need of being amended in the worse way. See more

Hello, we wanted to remind all of our campers today to remember a raincoat- it looks like we'll be riding in the rain!
We had a great first camp this year!
This is a warning!! POTENTIAL DANGER OF HORSE HAIR~ In a press release today, the National Institute Of Health has announced the discovery of a potentially dang...erous substance in the hair of horses. This substance, called "amo-bacter equuii" has been linked with the following symptoms in female humans: *reluctance to cook* reluctance to perform housework* reluctance to wear anything but boots* reluctance to work except in support of a horse* physical craving for contact with horses(may be an addiction) beware! *It's thought to believe the this substance may affect male humans as well* If you come in contact with a female human affected by this substance be prepared to talk about horses for hours on end. This was a public service announcement...Surgeon General's Warning: Horses are expensive, addictive, and may impair one's ability to use common sense. Photography: The Little Red House
Glad it is not that hot!
We have one spot remaining in our half day riding camp. It is in the Aug. 3-7 week. If anyone is interested, give us a call or message us.
The barn is clean, the boxes are packed and we and the horses are so excited!! A reminder that camp starts tomorrow at 8:30. Campers should bring boots with a heel, long pants for riding, a snack and lots of water. If you haven't paid/signed a waiver yet, we'll have a registration table tomorrow. Please bring your child's Medicare card. It's supposed to be sunny and warm tomorrow, a perfect first day!
This has some hard questions guys, but I bet you can get many of them right!
The curse of Tuesday lessons strikes again. We will still be running the lesson despite the weather. Make sure to bring a raincoat again this week!
Due to the weather, we have decided to cancel all Tuesday lessons. We will reschedule for a time that works for everyone. Stay dry!
Make sure to bring your raincoat to tonight's lesson! It is going to be a wet ride.
How true! How true!
The riding ring is almost clear of snow! We are so excited that it will be ready to start lessons the first week of May. We will be contacting people to set up the lesson schedule in the next couple of days. If you are interested in getting in on our Spring Lesson Program - Facebook us or give us a call at 848-6281.
I was at Walmart today and saw that there were rubber boots that laced up. Some were clear with a print, some looked like a work boot and others were black. They were cheap and had just the right amount of heel for riding. Just thought I would share!!
The August 10-14 Camp is filling up fast. There are ONLY four spaces left! There are three other camps with lots of spaces left: July 6-10, July 13-17 and August 3-7. We also still have a few spaces left in our Spring Riding Program.
Pegasus will be offering a spring riding lesson package during the months of May and June. Dates and times are to be arranged at the general convenience of the participants. We are hoping to offer an eight-week package starting the first of May. If you are interested please facebook us or give us a call at 849-6281.
We are happy to announce that we will be hosting summer riding camps again this year. The dates are as follows: July 6-10, July 13-17, August 3-7, and August 10-14 Hope to see you there!
It can happen....
Miranda and Val Kaser are now certified in Equine First Aid. The course was very informative and we returned home with lots of useful information, including pre-ride stretching exercises for horses and riders. The drive home from Fredricton was not so good, though!!
Katie Molloy > Val Kaser December 26, 2014 at 9:22am Tell your daughters and Elise that they did an excellent job showing Sophie how to get a pony ready for a ride. She took off the saddle, blanket and bridle and brushed down her new toy pony before putting them back on. All the while, explaining to her doll and kitty how it was done.
We have one opening in our Aug. 4-8 Camp. We accept campers aged 5-12. The campers enjoy horse care, riding instruction, horsey activities and crafts. If you know of anyone who would like to join us, have them message us or call: 849-6281!
Last night's ride was all about the hats.
WEEK ONE: LOST AND FOUND... Kenzie's jacket, Caitlin's sunglasses and a small size purple jacket...
Jayden & Co.: Proof that those who sit outside of the ring will eventually be drawn into the cool kids' club.
Week one was great, looking forward to next week! Here are some pictures that did not make it onto the CD.
Here at Pegasus, we are excited and ready for tomorrow, the first day of camp! Remember, camp runs from 8:30-12:30. Kids should bring boots with a half inch to one inch heel, long pants for riding, and a snack. We will have parental/guardian consent forms on site Monday morning.
