An intersting photo I came across of the North Nova Scotia Highlanders in England, April 1944, 2 months before the Normandy invasion. My great Uncle Norman Campbell is in second last row, the short man 7th in from the right, it made me really proud to see this photo but also there's a sadness to it as many of them never made it home..
The memorial in Charlottetown dedicated to Douglas Sumner Orford
Veteran of the second world war, Douglas Sumner Orford, killed in action the second day into the Normandy campaign June 7th 1944 while fighting with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders, my great uncle Norman Campbell was also with the North Novas. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.
From the Wheatley River memorial, A veteran of the first world war, Private Frederick Matheson, killed in action April 30th 1917 at Vimy Ridge, sadly he is one of the many who went missing during the first world war and has no known grave so he is commemorated on the Vimy Ridge Memorial. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.
