PLEASE VIEW FULL SCREEN The gaspereau are beginning their run up certain rivers to spawn and that means 'happy times' for the bald eagles who are gathering for ...the annual spring feast. I was out on the main beach in Cavendish Saturday morning May 29, 2021 and it was 'eagle paloosa'. There were birds perched in the trees at the campground, birds in the sand dunes and more birds overflying the beach from Clarkes Pond toward the lookout near Cavendish beach east. There was some fishing happening at Clarkes Pond, but most of the action was happening near the east beach. One of the more interesting sequences I shot was of juveniles and at least one adult chasing another adult to steal its catch. I guess it is easier to steal a fish than actually getting the feet wet catching one. 1 - This adult made the mistake of flying over this group of birds with a gaspereau hanging from its talons. 2- Once the rest of the gang saw that, the chase was on. 3 - Unfortunately, the bird with the fish dropped it right in front of a juvenile... 4 - ... who does some fantastic aerial manoeuvring... 4 - ... and snags the falling fish. See the lower left corner in the photo. 5 - With its talons firmly clutching the fish the juvenile heads to a safe place to eat.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that OHW will not be happening in 2020. The health and safety of our visitors, exhibitors, vendors, staff and the... general public is our top priority. To all the essential workers out there working every day in our province we send a huge amount of gratitude. Stay safe and stay strong!
This saddens all of us. I hope to see all next year!!
