Today on this International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia #TakeAStandPEI Let’s do our part to ensure that everyone feels safe and included in our communities! Pride PEI
Building a PEI that is safe and inclusive is an ongoing job, and it's work that we are all called to do. #TakeAStandPEI and let's confront intolerance, discrimination and hatred wherever we see it.
Recent data show 50K+ Islanders live at or below official measure of poverty. Hannah Bell, MLA and Official Opposition Critic for Social Development and Housing, is inviting public feedback on legislation she is putting forward to establish framework by which government must tackle poverty in PEI. "Spending choices reveal government priorities, and [the] lack of spending in critical areas is a choice of Premier King that begs the question: It is really about people?" says Peter Bevan-Baker, MLA and Leader of the Official Opposition, in a statement on a report by Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. The report "Picking up the Tab" says the province hasn't accessed or spent millions of dollars in available federal COVID-19 relief funding. Today, Premier King tweeted about mental health saying now, more than ever every action counts. We agree. Again, we ask him to keep his promise to prioritize mental health. Islanders are paying a devastating price for his delay. #DennysChoice #peipoli Tweet source: https://twitter.com/dennyking/status/1354744571469639683 Photo: Photo by Matthew Ball on Unsplash.com
Congrats to Karla Bernard, MLA!
ICYMI: Last November, Health Minister, James Aylward, promised Islanders the Charlottetown Psychiatric Urgent Care Clinic (PUCC) would not close permanently. Two short months later he announced it was closed permanently. It was a good story while it lasted. Does the King government have a plan to address #peimentalhealthcrisis? #peipoli #DennysChoice
