Sad as we were to have Debbie Langston's term as Chairperson come to an end, we are very pleased that Cathy Rose has been appointed into the role. We have no doubt that she is going to be amazing! Read more about her passions and commitments on our website. https://peistatusofwomen.ca/2021/05/20/chairperson/

I enjoyed hearing from a young woman about her work on a lobster boat and her aspirations to be a captain herself. Plus I love lobster. https://www.cbc.ca//pei-lobster-fishing-101-everything-you

Let's see some leadership on housing access in this city! Glad so many people showed up and voiced their opinions.

We LOVE the forget-me-nots, violas, and dandelions springing up in our yard! Less intervention is often the best way to cultivate a healthy environment. https://www.cbc.ca//prince-edward/pei-no-mow-may-1.6029279

Its the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. (And my Mom's birthday :) What will you do today to show your commitment to inclusion and protection of rights for everyone? From Pride PEI's 2021 Campaign: If you stand for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights, it’s time to do more than dance and march. We all have a role to play in fostering a safer and more welcoming Island.... To get you started, here are 5 ways everyone can #TakeAStandPEI and help shift the narrative year-round: https://twitter.com/PridePEI/status/1393569509445885952?s=20

ACSW staff are proud to be part of this fiesty group! We work alongside many incredible individuals and organizations to make basic income a reality in PEI. The PEI Working Group for a Livable Income is excited to congratulate the Legislative Assembly of PEI for endorsing the final report of the Special Committee on Poverty in PEI, which recommends a basic income guarantee for PEI. The report provides a fully costed, workable, and achievable model for a basic income guarantee that could eliminate poverty in PEI. It was a groundbreaking day for PEI and Canada when this important report was adopted, and the time to act on the report is now! https://www.facebook.com/cbigpei

Gratitude post! These two amazing women work hard all year to share content you will find inspiring, interesting and useful -- in the weekly e-news (Becky, on the left) and here on Facebook (Michelle, on the right). This year, they kept up the great work and were here for you despite having to do every single, blessed thing differently for pandemic times and grieving for our togetherness as a community. If you have a moment to offer a virtual hug to say thanks or to let them know what you like in their e-news and Facebook posts, please do. And wish them a well-deserved holiday! - Jane
