ASSIST for teachers is an eLearning program that is self-paced and provides professional development to assist teachers in developing evidence-based interventions to implement in their inclusive classrooms to support students with ADD, ADHD, autism and learning disabilities. The ASSIST team, led by Dr. Penny Corkum at Dalhousie University, and composed of health and education researchers and practitioners, are recruiting 300 Canadian teachers to participate in a study. CBC Prince Edward Island has reported that demand is up this year at Island Food Banks. Many of these clients would have children in Island schools. Today, the PEITF is sending donations to food banks across PEI in the spirit of CBC’s Feed a Family campaign.
