The Province of British Columbia has formally extended the provincial state of emergency, allowing health and emergency management officials to continue to use extraordinary powers under the Emergency Program Act to support the Province's COVID-19 pandemic response. The state of emergency is extended through the end of the day on Oct. 13, 2020, to allow staff to continue to take the necessary actions to keep British Columbians safe and manage immediate concerns and COVID-19 o...utbreaks. A provincial declaration of a state of emergency allows the Province to implement provincial emergency measures and allows access to assets that may be necessary to prevent, respond to or alleviate the effects of an emergency. This is a temporary measure authorized by the Emergency Program Act. The extension of the provincial state of emergency is based on recommendations from B.C.‘s health and emergency management officials. The original declaration was made on March 18, 2020, the day after Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer, declared a public health emergency. See more

This is a bit of a different update from Property Management but it’s good information so we thought we would share this experience one of us here at Pemberton just had! "I just purchased an apartment sized washing machine for my house. After using it for two months, the machine will not spin properly, flashed an error message an left the closing wet and water in the machine. I contacted the company, and here is what I learned. Many of you may already know this, but it c...ame as a surprise to me. Front load washing machines use vey little water, this we know, however, a common mistake people make, is using too much soap. That fill line on the soap drawer is bogus. Too much soap clogs the line which tells the computer what to do. The machine has a water level pressure switch attached the hose near the bottom of the tub. Too much soap causes the foam to travel up the line and kill the switch. If you have a larger good machine, it will likely try and remove the soap, which will trigger more rinse cycles and could add 25 minutes and waste a bunch of water. If you keep trying to run the machine, (i.e. removing some of the clothing and running it on the spin rinse cycle, (especially on warm water) the soap bubbles increase and eventually you fry the computer. The computer, it turns out, is just about as much as a new machine. So the moral of the story here is, front load washing machines only need a TABLESPOON of liquid detergent for an apartment size load, and two tablespoons for a large home size. Pods you ask? These are a no no for front loaders. The packaging which holds the detergent is made out of an animal by product. This by product does not break down (especially if a cold water wash) and despite what Tide says, these are also very bad for the mechanic’s of the machine. The animal by product could get stuck in the line and fry the computer as well. "
