'Taking Flight' is a fairly simple one that can be done individually. 'Welcome to My World' and 'Building Community' can be a fun one to work on with your family. June is almost here, which is when we celebrate Pride month! We at Pembroke Public Library, celebrate love, diversity and inclusion. The rainbow is a symbol of LGBTQ2S Pride so we have these cool magnets for tweens and teens. Register by emailing [email protected]!

On Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. the City of Pembroke will be hosting a virtual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Roundtable over Zoom for BI...POC and LGBTQ2S+ community members. An online survey is currently open until June 7, 2021 where any current or past resident of Pembroke and area can share their experiences and ideas as they relate to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The roundtable is intended to compliment the survey and give another way in which BIPOC and LGBTQ2S+ members of the community can share their experiences with racism and discrimination in Pembroke. The roundtable is specifically intended for BIPOC and LGBTQ2S+ community members, while the survey is open to anyone. Winter = the need for warm, comforting food! Learn how to make 'chana masala,' a delicious chickpea dish made with just a few spices and ingredients. Our CEO, Karthi Rajamani, will demonstrate this via a cooking tutorial that's to be published in the first week of Feb. Those who are interested in learning to make the dish, may pre-register for an ingredient bag with all the ingredients included. Minimum $10 a bag, additional donations will be greatly appreciated.
