Today we remember Stan Silvey, shíshálh Nation member and soldier who served for Canada during World War II. Stan is pictured here with Olga Silvey, Pauline McN...utt and Grace Silvey (Egmont, 1943). Stan was an engineer in the army (thanks Barbara Higgins!). Many thanks to Cliff Silvey for telling us about his father and his role in WWII. Lest we forget. See more

"This is the actual flag used to designate Battalion Headquarters of the 102nd Canadian Infantry Battalion (North British Columbians) in World War 1. It was fir...st used during the Battle of Amiens (the commencement of open warfare) August 8, 1918; through to September 6, 1918, which included the Second Battle of Arras (the penetrating of the Drocourt-Queant Line and the capture of Canal du Nord) when a new flag was necessary, as this one had well served its honoured purpose. I was adjutant of the Battalion at this time and so retained this old rag and have treasured it ever since as my outstanding souvenir. This flag was made in the field by our quartermaster staff. It is (or was) a small red square over a large green square, designating the 4th Battalion of the 11th Brigade of the 4th Canadian Division. I think that this flag should now rest in the archives of the Province of British Columbia." - S. H. Okell - November 11, 1959 #RemebranceDay #RBCMRemembers
