Our Youth have been helping to raise funds for this project for many years and thanks to you, we are closer to our goal of building this skatepark for them! Thank You!

The skatepark committee and the Penhold Optimist club have been working very, very hard for the last five to six years picking up we're other skatepark committees left off, trying to build something permanent for the Youth. We have discussed skatepark we've discussed pump track we're certainly looking at all options in fact we've even got a plan for a skatepark / pump track. No matter which it's going to be about three hundred thousand plus to build a lasting Park . We hav...e had many discussions with Town Council they have repeatedly told us there is no money in the budget for a skatepark. Now they are talking about budgeting for a pump track. I guess they can come up with money for a pump track because they want a pumptrack but they can't come up with money for a skatepark that would be good for all ages, all Wheels, and that the youth have wanted and been promised to have for over 10 years. Yes the survey said parks and trails green space were wanted by the adult taxpayers which is why the skatepark committee Optimists Club have been raising funds without tax dollars, again making it very difficult and taking a long time. We have been applying for Grants, not easy process, have received one recently as well as various donations. Of the cash raised, about $75,000.00 was fundraising. Selling cotton candy, raffles, volunteering, charity check stops, spending weekends at the Penholder running raffles and meat draws. And all this while also raising money for all 3 schools, daycares, PYC, Families in need, youth in need, other charities and non profit groups as well. Supporting youth, families, and Community. OPTIMIST CLUB UPDATE: We are super excited to see everyone this weekend at the Fall Festival. We will be selling Cotton Candy on both Friday night & Saturday night. We will also have members walking around selling 50/50 tickets. The Optimist Club is about promoting and supporting kid's programs in the community. In support of our ambitious Skatepark Goal this year, we want to invite ALL kid's to join our group and "roll" in the parade!! Scooter, Bike, Blade, Skates, Wagon etc... all welcome to come join our crew and wave to our community. All kids participating will receive a FREE bag of our delicious cotton candy..
