Cancer is the leading cause of firefighter line of duty deaths (LODD). In Alberta there are 16 forms of cancer that are considered occupation related and therefore presumed to be caused by being a firefighter. January is firefighter cancer awareness month.

Rip Calgary Police Service We are able to release the name of our member who was killed while on duty late yesterday. Sgt. Andrew Harnett, 37, joined the Calgary Police Service 12 years ago. He will be forever missed.

On Thursday December 31 2020 just before 2pm Penhold Firefighters responded to a motor vehicle collision at Highways 42 and 2A. There were 2 vehicles involved blocking traffic with fluids leaking. Penhold Acting Fire Lieutenant Clayton Rafuse said there was 1 person who was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. RCMP are investigating.
