Come hang out with us Monday or Tuesday night....or both! New classes this week! Tuesday Stretch/Strength - 6:45-7:45pm This class will be offered in person and online! We will be taking a very small amount of in person students since the beginning of this class is high intensity. Students will need to keep very distant from each other. Please let us know via email if you're interested and we can let you know if online or in person is available. Cost is $10 per class. We ...will be running four weeks. Feb 23rd, March 2nd, 9th and 16th. Monday Adult Fitness - 8:45-9:45pm This class will be offered online only as current restrictions do not allow for adults to take in person classes at this time. Come join us with your camera on or off! Modifications can be made for different fitness levels so don't be scared to try. In this class we will cover cardio, core strength, balance, arm and leg strength and basic stretching. Please email letting us know you're interested and we can send you the google meet link! One thing we’ve come to learn about COVID is that it does not pose any statistically significant serious risk to the health of children and adolescents Wonderful news! I’m very happy for all the kids that they can go back to school next week. But when can we reopen our dance studios? For me, this is the protocol we have at our dance studio. - Closed lobby and viewing area - no parents allowed in building or by appointment only... - All dancers in masks for entry and exit - Dancers entering and exiting the building one at a time - Low to medium intensity training only - no high intensity cardio training taking place - All staff in masks - 2 meters or more of physical distancing at all times within the facility - Regular cleaning as often as possible of all high touch surfaces, full clean of facility two to three times per day, deep cleaning of facility once per week - Contact tracing easily implemented if necessary - Required hand hygiene upon entering and exiting facility - Closed change rooms I know with 100% certainty our protocol is stronger than that of the schools. The kids were also walking to and from school together without distancing. Some schools are allowing physical education classes with high intensity cardio and no masks. It’s confusing and frustrating for me to hear what is happening in the schools, they are allowed to open yet we are made to sit closed with no clear end in sight. It’s difficult or impossible to plan our season or anything for our business without knowing when we will be allowed to reopen. For those of you that think it’s because the kids are dancing therefore there is a high risk of droplets please understand a class of 10 year olds standing distanced doing slow controlled movements in a ballet class is NOT the same as an adult Zumba or Spin class! It’s time we made the distinction between the two and allowed dance studios to reopen! BC has allowed all dance studios to open for children age 18 and under. Alberta needs to do the same! Have you written to your MLA yet? Refer back to the first quote and ask yourself if you think our studio is a safe place to be. Then please consider writing to your MLA in support of us reopening!

Just try and figure out how this one makes sense! As of February 8th we would be allowed to have myself with one student, Miss Dani with one student and Ms. Angela with one student all in the same room as long as we are 3 m apart between pairs. Yet we are not allowed to have myself in a room with three dancers all of us staying 3 m apart the entire time. If you read their explanation as to why.....clearly our government thinks we are allowing dancers to run wildly around ...the studio, in the hallways and entering and exiting however they please. Those of you that took classes with us from Sept-Nov know this is not true! The level of discipline our studio holds our students to even pre-Covid would not allow for this. Our dancers even take their water breaks one at a time so that they can stay distant from each other the entire time they are in our building. The logistics on this just make NO SENSE. Please share far and wide if you agree. Explain in your share why you know it's safe for your children to attend dance and tag your local officials! It's way beyond time for government to pay attention to dance studios, listen to us and at least try and understand what we do inside our buildings and what a dance class looks like. We are open! Penhold is currently in an "Open" status therefore we are allowed to stay open and continue running our classes. Dance families check your inbox for our full update. The little clip is just one example of how we are keeping our dancers safe while keeping dance a fun and enjoyable experience for them. These little beans were waiting safely with me in the studio while their classmates went with one of our assistants or a volunteer mom to get their coat and sho...es and exit the studio one at a time. We feel for all our Red Deer, Calgary and Edmonton studio owners and dancers right now! We know you have gone above and beyond as well to stick to the protocols set in place and keep everyone dancing safely! This little one came to ballet excited to show us something she knew. I often tell my students you have to do math in ballet! Then we talk through some examples. A few minutes after I took this video I told them we’d do 3 sets of 8 reindeer walks to our spot for our Christmas dance. I looked over and asked her what is 3 times 8? Took her about 20 seconds and some fingers for her to proudly tell me 24! One smart cookie and I’m certain she’ll be a beautiful teen ballet dancer someday! We are proud of all the accomplishments of our students! #penholdschoolofdance #season17
