Hello families, Some of you may have already heard through the media that the public health authorities have announced new restrictions and protocols imposed on sport activities. The changes are as following: Effective immediately all senior (adult) soccer programs are being put on hold. No practices or games ... Youth soccer will be returning to Phase 1 soccer. (Phase 2 for ViaSport). This means socially distanced drills, no games, and no contact. Our mini programs (U6-U10) was already supposed to end this weekend Dec 5th anyway. This just means there will be no games for these age groups this weekend and your winter break will start immediately. Our U11-U18 groups will be on hold until further notice. No games this weekend. and tonights training sessions are cancelled. We are expecting further clarification from the Ministry of Health as well as direct guidance from BC Soccer, they are waiting to receive their direction from VIA Sport. We hope to update parents as soon as we get information. This is disappointing news to us all, however we hope you understand our need to follow all Public Health Orders to protect you and the health of all our members. We have had a successful first half of the season, and have been blessed with very fortunate weather throughout. I hope you have all enjoyed your time back on the field and we hope to get back on as soon as its safe for all of us to do so. Thank you all, Chris Doxey Head Staff Coach, Peninsula Soccer Association.

At Peninsula we have the benefit of having parking lots that make it easy to watch the games. However we need parents to follow these simple rules to make sure we can all still enjoy our children playing soccer and making friends. 1) Health Checks 2) Arriving with all your gear so they don't have to leave the field for anything 3) Face masks... 4) STAYING INSIDE YOUR VEHICLE WHEN WATCHING 5) STAYING inside your vehicle when your child exits the field 6) Have some extra hand sanitizer ready before they enter your vehicle 7) Leave immediately If we all can work hard to follow those rules we can keep this sport running and make it easier on our volunteers and tech coaches doing their best to run the organization during this time.

WEEKEND CHALLENGE FOR OUR SOCCER COMMUNITY! https://www.braintumour.ca/events/vikes-kick-cancer/ 2020 has been a year everyone has wished to forget. None more than our Vikes community and former Captain to the men's soccer program ... Mackenzie Rigg, who had been recently diagnosed with brain cancer (Astrocytoma Grade IV). In support, the Vikes are looking to raise money in his name for brain cancer research. In an effort to fundraise, the Vikes will be collectively running 270km over the course of 3 days starting this weekend Nov 20-22nd. This is to represent the 27 Canadians who are diagnosed with a brain tumour each and every day. These diagnoses change lives and devastate families. The Vikes are trying to do their part to help ease the burden of Canadians living with brain cancer. So how can you help? Between November 20-22nd the Vikes programs will be hosting a virtual event "Vikes Kick Cancer". The aim is to get out run, bike, walk for 5km or as much as you can do. Post about it on your story and use the tag @vikeskickcancer. Tag 3 of your friends to challenge them. Posts will be nominated for prizes!! If you have the means to, please consider donating to show your support! All funds go towards researching brain tumours, new treatment options, and improving the quality of life for those affected. Thank you! We are all one team!
