Today we celebrate the #PeopleAtPennecon. We would like to introduce you to Brandon Hynes! Brandon joined the Pennecon Industrial team as an Electrical Project Coordinator about one year ago and has most recently accepted the position as new Area Lead in Labrador City with the IOCC project. He graduated as an Electrical Engineering Technologist, and has worked in the industry as a Project Coordinator for almost 10 years. We are confident that Brandon will not only be able... to lead our IOCC initiative, but also explore and develop other business relationships and project opportunities for Pennecon within the local area. In his new role, Brandon is responsible for overall project execution and will collaborate with the site team, client, and Management, to ensure that work is executed in a safe manner, according to project requirements. Part of Brandon’s role will also be to collaborate with the business development team and analyze and develop potential opportunities for Pennecon in the Labrador West area. He will work with Pennecon Management to develop and maintain client relationships. We wish Brandon and his team in Labrador City all the best as they work together on the IOCC project. #DYK that spanning coast-to-coast, Pennecon is a leader in the construction of Hydroelectric Facilities? We call this the #HydroelectricExperience! Working harmoniously with our international partner, BARNARD (headquartered in Bozeman, Montana), we successfully constructed the Muskrat Falls North and South Dams Project, which we are very proud to say was ranked globally by Engineering News Record (ENR) as the 2019 Best Dams Project. A key part of the 824MW Muskrat Falls H...ydroelectric Development was the construction of a 32m high, 432m long, 220,000m3 roller compacted concrete (RCC) North Dam, and a 20m high, 325m long,135,000m3 zoned earth-fill South Dam. The 3-season project also included the construction of three (3) complex cofferdams of nearly 600,000m3 to temporarily divert the lower Churchill River through a concrete spillway structure. Just another way we get the job done.

Safety First! As always, Pennecon is fully committed to ensure a safe workplace. Recently, at our IOCC worksite in Labrador City, to refocus our team on our safety goals, we formally held a Safety Restart to kick off our 2021 Projects. These projects currently include various demolition and new installations of Structural Steel, piping and electrical components at Mill 11. We have also started early works for the Bentonite plant upgrade. As you see in the photos, each wor...ker committed to these safe practices by signing the Safety Banner that is attached to our worksite trailer. This is also a visible reminder at the start of each day of that commitment.
