Covid-19 has presented the Penny Lane Christmas crew an opportunity to be creative this holiday season. Our typical celebrations encourage us to gather and be merry, but this year we are finding ways to spread Christmas cheer and stay safe. First up in our three weeks of fun; Sally and all the Lunch Box Canteen elves are busy creating cookie kits to be delivered for all the work areas to decorate and enjoy a sweet treat. Merry Christmas

National Disability Employment Awareness Month ~Power of Inclusion~ Today we are sharing a post for #EngageTalent A little of Jillian's history with Penny Lane. ... Jillian officially joined us upon graduating from The Verge House. When she started, she worked throughout the building gaining experience in all the employment training options at Penny Lane. She worked in various departments but eventually narrowed down her true interests. She worked in Penny Lane's canteen the Lunch Box, where she found her passion for food service, second only to her love of the Boston Bruins!! Jillian worked hard to build her skills and abilities which did not go unnoticed. She was offered the opportunity to progress her training to Riverbank General Store & Cafe. When she began with Riverbank, she didn't start in food service, she was given the chance to experience the different positions available there. It was quickly determined that food service was where her skills lead her. Through hard work, strong work ethic and her dependability she was offered full time at Riverbank. She took the lead role in the deli food production, baking and join the catering food preparation assistant team. Jillian's work skills are only one part of what she brings to her job, her customer service skills are top notch, she has a smile for everyone! She also has a desire to learn and is always looking for opportunities to grow her skillset. So when the chance to train to be part of the Riverbank Cater crew came up she was first in line. She took part in the winter training pool, during which she did; online courses, training sessions and hands on skill building. She looks forward to the time when the Covid-19 rules and government directives allow her to safely go back onsite at Riverbank. #smilesformiles #NDEAM2020 #powerofinclusion See more

December 3rd each year has been deemed The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) by the United Nations, beginning in 1992. IDPD aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize supports for the dignity, rights and wellbeing of persons with disabilities. Wondering how to observe this day? > Become an advocate - speak up when you witness or notice an accommodation that can be fix to create a more inclusive environment. > Lend a hand - look for... opportunities to volunteer or just offer to help with needed tasks. >Show some compassion - practice patience and understanding. Did you know - 15% of the worlds population or 1 billion people are living with disability. The theme for the 2020 year is: "Not All Disabilities are Visible" This year's theme is a true reflection of the need to remove barriers for all, not just the physical. #InclusionForAll #notalldisabilitiesarevisible See more
