Pen Pals with Purpose

If you have a moment- this is a great read! A friend of mine who participates here in this group and was one of the lucky ones to receive a pen pal in the first group has started a blog after getting married during the pandemic!

New list coming! Received news I will be getting 10 more names shortly! Also working hard to get more nursing homes on board!

Some residents have received letters AND I am hoping to meet with a larger nursing home to look at having them participate! Thank you everyone for your support!

Just a bit of background - part of why I began pen pals with purpose was how lonely my nan felt in her special care home. She talked to one other resident but really had no real common interests. I thought back to her living in PEI and we would write letters back and forth frequently. She loved to write letters. This weekend I was sent a photo of us not too long before she passed away. Probably the last photo we took together.

Update: I would like to keep pen pals an adult relationship to keep up a meaningful conversation- If you want your child to participate please make it a together project! Definitely include them but make sure you are able to assist and write as well.
