Hello, PACA will be hosting Anthony Haddad, General Manager of Community Services for the City of Penticton, via Zoom on May 26th @ 7pm to speak about the North... Gateway. Background for the North Gateway project is here: https://www.pentictonwesternnews.com//penticton-residents/ The plan is for it to be about 45 minutes or so as to not needlessly bore you, but to give an interesting update. It’s an exciting project as Westminster currently has a large right of way that could easily accommodate a bike facilty. It could provide nice connections to the SOEC, Channel Path, and many other amenities and homes in the Northwest corner of the city. Oh and of course the lake to lake route (construction starting tomorrow!). I hope this could serve as a future template when redoing or resurfacing some larger than needed roads and better accommodate people on bikes (and on foot). I have many people approach me about the unsafe cycling connection to the West Bench in this area. Another big opportunity as the North Gateway will get right to Highway 97 @ Westminster Ave. I will send out a zoom link closer to the meeting date.

The Mayor of Victoria, BC has left a video message for our City of Penticton and the Council members, urging them to support the Lake-to-Lake cycling route. This is based on the actual experience in their City and all the benefits they've seen after putting in separated cycling routes of their own. Thank you for this message Mayor Lisa Helps!

There will be a public hearing on : at the Penticton Trade & Convention Centre. ... The council vote will determine if we move forward, or the project dies.
