Please see below details to clarify as it has been communicated that there might be some confusion among the sangat in regards to whether or not the Gurdwara Sahib is open. The Gurdwara Sahib is still open to the sangat on an individual basis so please follow Covid safety measures during your brief visitation.

On June 1, 1984, the Indian Army launched a military assault on the Darbar Sahib killing thousands of innocent Sikhs gathered to commemorate the martyrdom anniv...ersary of Guru Arjan Sahib. June is a time for Sikhs to remember, reflect and remain resilient to seek justice for these atrocities. The invasion of Darbar Sahib was followed by a decade of state sponsored violence against Sikhs. This included abduction, torture and the extra-judicial killings of Sikhs. Evidence of this genocide was unearthed by Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra and presented to Canadians at the WSO’s annual parliamentary dinner in 1995. 36 years later, Sikhs live with the intergenerational trauma of June 1984, support the survivors and remember all those who lost their lives. #neverforget1984 See more
