Ive been seeing more and more of this lately so I thought it would be timely to share a little piece of advice... To my valued clients, please please try to keep an open mind when it comes to candidate consideration. Just because a certain type of candidate didnt work in the past doesnt mean you should limit your search efforts to avoid this specific type of criteria. Remember that loyalty is most often based on a persons values rather than demographic characteristics. There are so many other tools we can use to assess drive and commitment, so if the candidate is qualified, try not to let your preconceived notions get in the way of finding a superstar that you might have otherwise overlooked.

So you didnt get the jobbummer! Most of us have been there at one point another. I get it, the rejection can be extremely discouraging, especially when you feel as though you rocked the interview! As frustrating as it is, heres a few things to keep in mind: 1. Accept the rejection with maturity and grace, regardless of whether you agree with the decision.... 2. Hate mail/emails/phone messages/tweets will get you no where! Do not do this! 3. Your recruiter is not your public enemy #1 no need to bash them. 4. This decision simply means that theres something better for you out there. Keep your spark alive and dont lose hope! See more

1. Add the interview details in your calendar STAT! Make sure to set a reminder so you dont forget. 2. Ask in advance if your interviewer will be calling you or you should be calling them. If the latter, ask for their contact info to ensure you are prepared. 3. Take the call from a private location where you wont be distracted. If you cant take the call from home, then make sure to seclude yourself - library, boardroom or even your car. 4. Prep for the interview as if it ...were an in-person interview. Try to anticipate the questions that will be asked. Research the company and know your story - what is your career path, why are you a good fit for the job, strength, areas of improvement. And make sure to always back these up with examples. 5. Smile throughout the phone conversation. This might feel totally awkward, but I promise, your enthusiasm and excitement will come out in your voice . 6. Write down some questions in advance. There is no way your interviewer addressed every single question you have. Employers want to sense a genuine interest from you, so "you answered them all" simply doesnt look good. 7. Follow up with a thank you email. Keep it short and sweet. Dont forget to mention you look forward to hearing from them. 8. Most importantly, remember to just be yourself! See more
