Our spokespenguin Pepper is making the most of this glorious day by joining his humans on a paddle south of Calgary to the Carseland Dam. This is the best time of year to do this float because the cottonwoods and poplars explode into golds and yellows. We will eat bruschetta and olives and fresh figs (since you asked). Can it be two years? #ThrowbackThursday to the opening two years ago today of our eatery on 7th St. SW in the trendy 17th Ave SW shopping district. Popular local blogger Carlee Krtolica of Styled To Sparkle captured some of the opening night buzz ... our fifth location has indoor seating, beer & wine, our famous Italian subs, gelato and take-and-bake entrees such as lasagne, pastas and sauce, meatballs and other noms. We are heartened to see our struggling hospitality sector rebound from months of Covid-related slowdown. Who else thought this would all be over by May? (Please keep wearing those masks, it is proven to #flattenthecurve - it will also help our suffering #yyc restaurants, hotels, retail sector, etc. to rebound.) We are thrilled to have four of our five locations open again - our Bridgeland YYC store (takeout & groceries), 7th St. in the 17th Ave SW district (indoor/outdoor seating, takeout & groceries). At this time, the Kensington eatery offers takeout, limited patio seating and no iindoor seats. Our Plus-15 kiosk at 4th Ave. and 4th St. SW reopened last week. (7 am to 3 pm.) We’re also on DoorDash and SkipTheDishes. #yycfood

We were just thinking, as we inhaled a tub of Tiramisu Gelato before it could melt, that our spokespenguin Pepper is Just. So. Brave. Let’s ponder this .... there are clearly bears here. Not just random they’re out here and you know it, but Right Here. Imminent (we have photographic evidence). Plus, other hikers advised us a bear was in the ‘hood at Fullerton trail in K-Country. So we left. (Kidding!!!) But the penguin is not enthralled by the prospect of forest critters - pretty hard to climb anything without opposable thumbs! Just saying ...
