SCIATIC NERVE So you’ve googled your symptoms or someone has told you you have sciatica. Well, this is actually a symptom NOT a diagnosis! The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the body. The branches originate in the low back and the nerve runs from your buttocks to your knee where it splits into the tibial and fibular nerves to supply your legs and feet. The sciatic nerve can get irritated anywhere along its pathway causing pain . So yes, the location of your pain ...corresponds to the sciatic nerve but the diagnosis comes from what is causing the problem. Common causes of sciatic nerve irritation: disc herniation tight muscles, commonly piriformis facet joint irritation After proper assessment of the low back and lower limbs we can determine what is causing your pain. Each cause is treated differently so it’s important to see a health care practitioner, not Dr. Google. At PCC we aim to decrease pain and increase function. This is definitely one of the most common conditions we treat. Book your appointment today to check out your sciatica. https://dramandascione.janeapp.com/ @dr.natashalabana #sciaticnerve #sciatica #discherniation #piriformissyndrome #performancecare #performancecarecentre #PCC #performancetreatment #chiropractor #massagetherapy #manualtherapy #ancasterchiro #ancasterrmt #medicalacupuncture #acupuncture #chiropractorinancaster

SCAPULA SERIES Have you been told your scapula is winging or to bring your scapula back and down? The scapula is a flat bone found on your back and floats on your ribs. The scapula attaches to your clavicle and humerus which all work together to allow for shoulder movement. When your scapula isn’t working optimally it can result in dysfunctional movement patterns and eventually pain or discomfort. ... Common conditions resulting from a malfunctioning scapula include: shoulder impingement rotator cuff injuries upper to mid back pain decreased mobility So why is your scapula not working properly? There could be a number of reasons but the main culprits are weak or inhibited scapular stabilizers. These muscles are the levator scapulae, rhomboids, serratus anterior and trapezius. The goal is to activate the muscles that get your scapula into proper positioning so you can use the shoulder efficiently. Stay tuned for exercises. @dr.natashalabana #scapula #wingingscapula #serratusanterior #scapularstabilizers #performancecare #performancecarecentre #PCC #performancetreatment #chiropractor #massagetherapy #manualtherapy #sportrmt #ancasterchiro #ancasterrmt #medicalacupuncture #acupuncture #softtissuetherapy #rehab #ancaster #chiropractorinancaster

HEADACHES There are many types of headaches and triggers that can bring them on. But sometimes you just can’t get rid of them . This could be because the trigger is your NECK! The upper traps, SCM and subpccipitals are the most common muscles to have trigger points that can refer pain into your head = headache. Through our assessment we aim to reproduce headaches that can be coming from joints or muscles.... Four common types of headaches: 1. Tension type tight band like headache, throbbing, worse with muscle palpation in the neck, relieved by muscle release 2. Cervicogenic associated with neck pain and stiffness, worse with neck movement and physical activity, relieved by neck adjustments 3. Cluster common in males, unilateral over the eye area, runny eyes and nose, several times within a short period 4. Migraine unilateral, vary in intensity, can cause nausea and visual disturbances, sensitive to light and certain foods/scents Treatments effective for headaches all involve increasing blood flow and decreasing muscle tension and joint restrictions. Techniques we use at PCC include: Acupuncture Adjustments Soft tissue release Joint mobilizations At home stretches and muscle release Book an appointment to address that stubborn headache https://dramandascione.janeapp.com/ @dr.natashalabana #headache #migraine #tension #clusterheadache #cervicogenic #performancecare #performancecarecentre #PCC #performancetreatment #chiropractor #massagetherapy #manualtherapy #sportrmt #ancasterchiro #ancasterrmt #medicalacupuncture #acupuncture #softtissuetherapy #rehab #ancaster #chiropractorinancaster

My orthotics really aren’t that comfortable they are actually quite hard I don’t even wear my orthotics because they don’t fit properly into my shoe These are common complaints I was hearing from my patient’s past orthotics. Since I started working with Orthogenic Labs, I have NOT heard these complaints! Here’s how the orthotics at PCC may differ from your past orthotics:... - 3D volumetric cast using infrared structured light scanner - NO PLASTIC SHELL on the bottom. All EVA - The ability to also scan the particular shoe you would like the orthotic to go into - Versatility It’s almost the end of the year, if you have been putting it off don’t wait any longer! Orthotics can be casted by either Dr.Amanda or Dr.Natasha. Select the Orthotics option when making an appointment online. WHAT’S THAT SOUND? Have you ever wondered why a chiropractic adjustment makes a sound aka crack or pop? Two bones form a joint separated by a joint capsule filled with fluid. When joints are gapped the pressure decreases and gas bubbles are released. This creates a cavitation aka the cracking or popping sound. Depending on the adjustment we may or may not hear a sound. But this doesn’t mean it didn’t work, we are still moving the joints and creating a response... in the body. So to clarify that sound is completely normal, and no we are not cracking your bones! Need an adjustment?
