Sport Sunday with coach Aaron. Everyone knows training legs is very important for success, however glutes are not often thought of when training legs. This exercise (Good Mornings) is great at targeting the glutes to help strengthen the posterior chain. This is especially good for hockey players as it focuses on hinging at the hip which is integral for skating. Get out and have a good morning today!

FST at 360! Are you in pain? Do you need to improve your mobility and flexibility? What is FST and is it right for you? Fascial Stretch Therapy (or FST) targets not only the muscles, but the fascia, which is the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones, and joints. FST also targets the entire joint and joint capsule, using traction to remove restrictions from movement and to stimulate lubrication. A therapist will gently pull and move the arms, legs, spine, and neck in... a smooth motion through varying planes of movement. There is no pain, not even discomfort. Instead, the gentle movement is stimulating and relaxing at the same time. FST enhances recovery: It can reduce muscle-fascia adhesions, relieve muscle soreness and flush the lymphatic system. It also increases blood flow which helps speed up recovery time. Athletes in fascial stretch programs have been found to recover more quickly between training sessions and improve active range of motion compared to other stretching methods. FST can help restore balance and symmetry. The FST therapist evaluates your condition, then creates a program that will restore balance and symmetry to your body. FST has been known to correct leg-length discrepancies through decompression of the joint capsule in the hip. FST can increase your speed and quickness. Healthy fascia is fast and reactive and supports the need to move quickly. Improving range of motion and elasticity can maintain stride length and you will be better able to absorb impact. FST can reduce the risk of injury. Lack of mobility can lead to compensations and increased risk of strains. Because FST focuses on the connective tissue, it can reduce these risks. Fascial Stretch Therapy is designed for your specific needs. Unlike regular static stretching, an FST therapist treat both sides of your body differently, based on her assessment of your needs. FST is calming, soothing, and pain free. Running is a high-impact endeavor, and many of the treatments for running related issues can be painful. FST calms the nervous system, relaxes the body, and is pain free, all the while producing incredible results. #fst #fascialstretchtherapy

2013-2020 this is not an overnight transformation. You can do it.... Fall 2013- Ashley’s first gym selfie. Over 200lbs. The elliptical and cable machines were her best friend. You can do it. 2014- Career switch - from PSW to Personal Trainer You can do it 2017 - She watched her coach of three years @teamwink sweep an entire stage of guys- she witnessed her first bodybuilding competition on a whim because one Saturday she was bored. You can do it. 2018- Ashley competed and placed top five in both categories in her first bodybuilding competition. You can do it. 2020- First Overall Wellness champion in Canada. (Pic on right) You can do it. 2021- to be continued. You STILL can do it From coach Ashley- I started this wild ride seven years ago. My struggles were/are no different or worse or easier than anyone else’s. And through everything - yes I’m proud of how far I’ve come physically- but I’m more proud of how far I’ve come mentally. Through taking the steps to achieve things I was not only told I couldn’t but also believed I wouldn’t - I’ve become relentless not only in knowing what I want and making sure it happens - making as many people as possible realize and start to believe they can too. Because guess what- you CAN do it. Make it happen.

Tomorrow marks 4 months since our re-opening in July. It also marks to the day, 8 months since our forced closure. While being closed for 4 months seemed like it lasted an eternity, the last 4 months operationally have flown by. Yet, every week we speak to people who say they are still fearful of COVID-19 and fitness industry transmission. Below you will see some very important facts surrounding this and what we as an industry are doing as a whole to ensure members safe...ty! Recently the Fitness Industry Council of Canada conducted a reopening survey of our member clubs across the country. Across Canada, out of the 20 MILLION+ workouts since fitness facilities reopened starting in April, there has been a 0.001% rate of transmission of COVID-19 from our member clubs. Fitness Industry Council of Canada member clubs are known for maintaining strict guidelines to ensure the safety of their clients and staff. Other than physical distancing, sanitizing, and masks, the fitness industry is ensuring safety measures and protocols that include (yet are not limited to): - Online Booking Systems - COVID-19 Screening Forms - Real-Time Member Counts - Contactless Check-Ins - Seamless Contact Tracing Now, back to what we said about people not returning to exercise out of fear. I have taken the time to speak to many who have said they feel this way (and don't get me wrong here, COVID-19 is real and I am not trying to minimize that.) However, many of these people admitted they are hanging on to the excuse of COVID to avoid working out. Props to them for being honest and coming clean! If you are one of these people just hanging on to the excuses NOT to exercise, we are in this for a while. Do not compromise your health further by not giving it what you deserve. Exercise build immune strength, supports mental health and will help keep you SAFE from disease and viruses. When you practice "safe fitnessing" in a clean environment you will be better for it!
