RESPONSIBILITIES : Responsible for all phases of the store's operations. Participates in store selling efforts to ensure personal goals, as well as store sales and productivity goals, are met. Responsible for addressing personnel and performance issues including coaching, verbal and written warnings, progressive discipline and termination when needed. Create schedules based on workload planning and business needs. Ensure high standards of housekeeping and store appearance. Manage the operations of the stockroom to ensure new merchandise gets to the sales floor promptly. Merchandise received correctly and maintained tight control of all merchandise. Analyze and review daily store reports to evaluate overall store performance. Complete special assignments as directed by management. Job Requirements : * Prior experience in retail management necessary. * Self-confident and mature, with a positive attitude and approach to work * Ability to train, coach and develop Associates at all levels. * Ability to organize and prioritize tasks necessary to accomplish goals. * Develop a schedule to complete tasks and execute to achieve results. * Ability to work evenings and weekends. * Ability to lift and carry 25lbs. We are currently looking to hire an Assistant Buyer for pet stores in regional malls throughout the US. This position is responsible for setting department strategy to maximize sales, margin, and inventory and space productivity. In partnership with the merchandise planning team, they manage all categories within their department. This position works with the merchandise planning team to develop and deliver financial plans and forecasts. They develop merchandise assortments, ...marketing strategies and in-store presentation. This position must work cross-functionally to achieve their goals. The position reports directly to the President. Must have experience working with pet stores. RESPONSIBILITIES Set and communicate departmental merchandising strategy Develop and execute financial plans including sales, margin and inventory in conjunction with merchandise planning team Develop assortment plans which support department goals Develop seasonal merchandise plans and marketing strategies Partner with merchandise planning team to update monthly forecasts with goal to exceed annual plans Manage vendor portfolio, performance, and relationships to maximize profitability and achieve financial objectives Develop marketing plans that set pricing and product cadence to optimize profitable sales and support the corporate marketing strategy Optimize in-store guest experience and space productivity through merchandise presentation Identify and insure a pipeline of new trends, brands, and products to meet customer and market needs Proactively assess and monitor the competitive landscape and marketplace to determine potential opportunities or threats Mentor, coach, and develop direct reports to position them for success Minimum Requirements Associate’s degree 2+ years retail buying experience.
