Well, it’s October 15th - Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. For some, today is hard...really hard. For some, this day is a great comfort. For some it’s... a day to share, and even for others who aren’t ready to share today is a day to connect with others simply by reading or hearing their stories and feel, if only for a moment, a little less alone. We hold space in our hearts for mothers and fathers who have endured the searing pain of pregnancy and infant loss. We remember and send love to the babies who were carried but never held, and those who were birthed but never came home. Thinking of all the families we've supported through this and the many others out there who are affected. And, I am 1 in 4. I stand beside you, ever grieving. I see you, I love you, and I know your journey stretches on long after people stop asking how you're coping (and they do stop asking). I see you in the ERs and clinics, getting probably subpar health care. I see you holding your shit together when people ask you when you're going to start a family, or when you're having another baby. I see you fighting PTSD, managing your symptoms, trying to cope with the weight of it. I see the strain it can put on your relationships and the way it can cause you to question your faith. I see you falling apart and then picking yourself up again. I hope that connecting to others in the loss community offers some comfort.
