Dear parents, families and interested parties, the Periwinkle Children’s Centre would love to welcome new members to join our board. Due to the consistent need for more child care spaces in Kaslo and its surrounding neighbourhoods, we are dedicated to expand our services to more families. As member of the board, you will work with us on this expansion and to create more nurturing childcare spaces for the growing needs of families in our community. We are looking for thinkers, doers, fundraisers, community leaders and experienced folks to join us - please consider helping out if you can. For more details, PM us or write to [email protected]
Perwinkle made it on the Columbia Basin Trust's Basin Stories website. The article highlights Periwinkle's work during COVID and how we keep our children in case safe during these unprecedented times. :) Thank you to the families for the trust and to our friends at CBT for the support and love!

In this lovely custom children walk a spiral formed of evergreen branches, at the center of which stands a large candle. Each child lights their own candle to place along the spiral as they journey back out. Thus, slowly, the dimly lit room becomes filled with light. We will be offering two times for this event. 4:30 and 5:30 on Sunday Dec. 3 at Periwinkle Childrens Centre. Please sign up for one of these times (email Heike or leave a PM here). Please also let us know how many children you will be bringing. We will be asking for a contribution of $3 - $5 to help cover costs. A basket will be ready in the cubby room to receive your contribution.

Captivated audience. Periwinkle children watching the cement pour. At one point they just spontaneously started to applaud!

Periwinkle Childrens Centre is looking forward to providing another year of excellent care to the children of Kaslo, and is now accepting registrations for 2017/2018. We strongly encourage families to enroll their children for at least two days per week. It has been our experience that children who attend Periwinkle on multiple days per week have the opportunity to benefit on a deeper level from the Periwinkle program. More frequent participation and consistent groups allow ...young children to become comfortable, settle into routines and daily rhythms. This provides a strong foundation for absorbing and retaining learned material, such as songs, games, rhymes, etc. Learning is enhanced on all levels of development. A copy of our registration protocol is available at the centre. For more information and for placement on our wait list, please call Heike 250-505-6091
Dont forget to bring pots for the Easter Grass this week.
The board of KLISS would like to thank the Provincial Government, Community Gaming Branch for their generous grant of 4200.00. This gives us the financial support to continue to offer our services through Perwinkle Childrens Centre.
Periwinkle will be closed for Spring Break March 20th-31st. First day back will be Tuesday, April 4th :)

Located in the little blue house within Vimy Park Periwinkle Childrens Centre provides care for children aged 2.5 to 5 years on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:30 till 2:30. Our Waldorf inspired program is rich and rewarding, and beautifully supports the young childs transition from home life to school life. Within our home-like, nurturing, and calm environment all areas of development are fostered and stimulated throughout each day. A rhythmic succession of free... and structured activity, indoor and outdoor play, and shared meals allows children to learn at their own level, while extending their skills and abilities, supported by our skillful, caring, and dedicated educators. Program activities include: baking, painting and drawing, crafts, indoor and outdoor play, nature walks, circle time, and story time. Periwinkle Childrens Centre is operated by Kootenay Lake Independent School Society. We are a registered non-profit organization and are able to provide tax receipts for your donations. We currently have openings on our board of directors and welcome new members.
