The Journal of the American Medical Directors Association (JAMDA) published its evaluative study of the performance of Perley Rideau’s SAFE unit. The study found that SAFE patients had shorter stays in hospital, were more likely to be discharged to home, required less follow-up care, and were no more likely to visit a hospital emergency room or require hospital readmission in the following months. Despite COVID-19 restrictions we're finding ways to deliver our Therapeutic Recreation & Creative Arts program. Staff artists have recently helped residents sculpt and paint clay flowers, for example, and create canvases using paint-filled water guns. To mark the 75th Anniversary of Victory over Japan (#VJDay) musician Trudy Letourneau entertained residents with a performance of period songs. ... The Veterans’ Residents Council and the entire Perley Rideau community extend their heartfelt thanks to Super-Volunteers and Canadian Armed Forces veterans, Ken & Ray Green, for a combined total of 27 years of service! Today, July 27th is National Korean War Veterans Day and 2020 marks the 70th anniversary of the Korean War (1950-1953). In keeping of this day, we want to recognize, honor and thank all of our Korean Veterans. Each korean war veteran will be receiving a commemorative plaque from the Republic of Korea.
