Massage Therapy has been given the go ahead to start a gradual return to work. We are in the process of implementing the guidelines we have been given and will be starting with reduced hours in the coming week. Happy Sunday all! Believe it or not, it WILL warm Up and when it does so many keeners will be so excited to get in the garden! This season is normally extremely... busy for RMTs as enthusiasts take on landscaping/garden projects......and hurt themselves. This year, there are fewer rehab options so slow it down and be strategic out there. It is difficult to quell a gardeners passion! In my experience, the most preventative approach is to PACE your projects and DIVERSIFY your postures. Set a timer to stand, stretch wander and shake it out at intervals and change up your tasks (maybe raking intervals alternating with shovelling/tilling or planting). Lift with your legs: knees bent, feet planted. DONT bend at the hips and heave with your back. If you overdo it, Chiropractors and Physiotherapists remain essential and Emergency rooms are ready to keep you safe from COVID 19 and treat you (if you have heart or stroke symptoms DO NOT hesitate!). This month, I celebrated 20 years in practice! We have some in clinic gifts and draws for clients ongoing into February. I am so grateful to clients and colleag...ues for making my work so fulfilling and meaningful! Massage Therapy is this amazing,wholistic treatment that can reduce stress and pain and restore functional movement and when combined, it can help people live their best life! I LOVE being part of that: getting folks back in the game, the garden, back to work, behind the wheel, back to sleep, bringing gross and fine motor back online, teaching new parents how to massage their infant to express love but also so babe can have an explosive poop and the whole family can go home and crash (yes this is a highlight of my day-lol). its a privilege to strive toward and realize these goals together. Its really hard work for both of us-but its worth it! Life is so damn beautiful :) Massage can also ease the pain of mental/emotional stress and believe me when I tell you EVERYONE is dealing with something challenging, difficult and sometimes horrible, so be patient, gentle, kind and understanding to one another out there friends. Life is so damn hard:(. There is time and confidential space in a massage treatment room for tears, talk, silent rest but also for laughter and casual chit chat. I remain humble in this profession where everyones needs are unique and there is always more to learn. I have so enjoyed providing care in this special, quaint little corner of the world.
