PHS will be hosting the The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society Mobile Animal Wellness Unit on Weds, Nov. 25th and Thurs, Nov. 26th. The Mobile Unit will be offering their services to CATS ONLY on this visit to Peterborough. If you would like to book an appointment, PAYMENT IS REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF BOOKING BY CREDIT CARD. As Canadians come together on Remembrance Day to remember and honour those who have served, the war-time of animals will also be recognized through the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society’s Animals in War commemorative pins. The Animals in War pin is designed to be worn alongside your poppy to remember our veterans and the animals who bravely served by their side. This year, to support veterans and Legions through challenges brought on by COVID-19, $2.50 from each pin sold will b...e donated to Royal Canadian Legion branches across the province. Animals in War pins are available for purchase at PHS. Please call ahead to 705-745-4722 to book a time to come in & pick up.

If you need a bit of sunshine on this gloomy morning, the delightful combo of our lovely Thrift Shop Manager, Mary Nasurick, and Frosty the kitten should do the trick! Our Thrift Shop will permanently close on October 23rd. Current hours of operation are Tuesdays Saturdays, 10am 2pm. The shop is located within Northcrest Plaza at 184 Marina Boulevard.

Please forward, this puppy is missing, she has disappeared from an island on Pigeon Lake. Our hope is someone thought she was alone on the island and took her ...for safekeeping...she answers to Cassie, is about 15lbs, incredibly friendly and a happy little girl...We are beyond devastated. Edit....we are near the Narrows or the South sandbar...Grenadier island...about 6 cottages, thin long island, Cassie disappeard on Oct 13, between 4pm and 5pm. EDIT#2 We are now offering a $1500 reward for her safe return. No Questions asked.

We had a wonderful week for adoptions including Lily, Autumn Phillips and our senior gal, Lou (pictured on the bottom right with PHS staff).

We are thrilled to share our 1st ever virtual event, PTBO PAWlympics, raised $25,492.25 to go towards the animals under our care! An enormous, bottom of our hearts thank you to the amazing participants who not only logged some impressive km's with their pets throughout the month of September, but who also raised valuable funds for our animals in need in the process. Founded in 1996 by Betty Vitarelli, the Peterborough Humane Society Thrift Shop has been a 100% volunteer run operation focused on raising funds for local animals in need. The shop would not have been possible without the amazing network of volunteers involved through the years, currently championed by store manager Mary Nasurick. We are incredibly grateful for the support & dedication of all our volunteers through the years. We will be closing the Thrift Shop on October 23...rd, 2020.
