People are often surprised by my writing process. I take the old adage of the early bird gets the worm to heart and usually begin writing at 6 a.m. (with the aid of my first cup of joe, of course). I often lose track of time as I get mired into plots and character development. When the flow slows down, I typically reach for another cup of coffee or do a deep dive on Google to research places or events. When I need a break, I put those walking shoes on and get outside! I average four to six kilometers a day; which according to my Garmin watch is four to ten thousand steps. If you write, what’s your process like?

Well, it’s likely time for a bit of an introduction here. I’ve connected with some new folks so it’s only appropriate to fill them in on what they signed up for! Hi, I’m Peter. After a long career as a business strategist at Ernst and Young, I’ve now dedicated myself to focus on my passion for writing as an author. My latest book, a Double Shot of Scotch, tells the story of Hamilton St. James, a corporate investigator who navigates a shady world of offshore accounts and hire...d killers and maybe finds love in the process. I’m currently working on the sequel and am enjoying lockdown life with my wife Judy. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, mother figures and moms-to-be out there! Today we celebrate everyone who fills a maternal role. Here’s a memory of my wife Judy and I with my mom Audrey, at the nursing home in Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia where she was cared for at the time. She’s since passed away (four years ago) but I will always remember her being full of fun with a wicked sense of humour. I like to think she’d be rather proud of me for pursuing my passion for writing.
