Senior cats can have difficulty staying hydrated due to kidney disease, diabetes or just old age. A method of helping maintain hydration is by giving subcutaneous fluids to older cats, sometimes as often as twice a week. This can help their appetite and with litter box habits. If your vet has made this recommendation, but you're not comfortable giving the fluids yourself, allow Pet Pedis to help! As a Registered Veterinary Technician, I can administer the subcutaneous fluids to your cat as often as required, but in the comfort of your own home. My fee is $25 per session. Contact Pet Pedis today to set up your cat's first appointment.
Mark your calendars! Pet Pedis will be back in Toronto trimming dog nails at Wag on the Danforth on Saturday Nov 21 from 11-3. Cash only, $10 dog nail trims. See you then!

Did you know that the Thanksgiving weekend is one of the busiest times of the year for veterinary clinics and emergency pet hospitals? From getting into the garbage and ingesting bones and other junk, to being fed leftovers, this can be one of the costliest weekends for dog owners if they're not careful. Pancreatitis is a very common illness in dogs that can occur on its own, or more frequently when owner's give their dog human food that is too rich for their digestive systems. It's painful to your dog and is sometimes fatal. Save yourself the time, money and pain to your dog this Thanksgiving by making sure your dog only eats his food and doesn't sneak any of those delicious leftovers. https://blog.vettechprep.com/thanksgiving-time-operation-do
The bond between children and dogs can be so special. Make sure that your child knows how to safely interact with dogs.
Cats are very fastidious about their grooming, so when matts appear, there's usually a reason such as: -obesity -arthritis -illness... Call Pet Pedis to have your cat's matts trimmed. From the tight matts covering the hips, to a sanitary hind end grooming. Instead of taking your cat to the vet, have the matts trimmed in the comfort of your home. My fee starts at $15 and goes up depending on length of shaving time. Contact Pet Pedis today!

My husband and I are fostering a dog from the Alliston Humane Society. Her name is Emma, she's 9 years old and is a former racing dog from Northern Manitoba. Because she's a senior and couldn't run anymore, she was kept tied to a chain in the ground. She was barely being fed, is about 10-15 lbs underweight and has a sore on her hind end from being forced to lie down all the time. She's very shy and uncertain of why she's in a strange home, but we're happy to look after her until she finds her forever home. Consider fostering a pet. You might just save a life.
Ever wonder what your cat's meowing means?
As part of Pet Pedis Covid-19 precautions, I have the Covid Alert app on my phone. This tracks the people around me that may have been exposed to the virus and alerts me when I come into contact with someone who is positive. It’s a method of contact tracing. Of course, the people around me must also have the app, but it’s just another way to protect myself and my clients. #innisfil #alcona #petnails

What is an RVT? RVT stands for Registered Veterinary Technician. Simply put, they’re an Animal Nurse. RVTs have many different roles when it comes to animal care, however they all must meet certain requirements to become registered. -graduated from an accredited college’s Veterinary Technician program... -passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam -taken part in a Professionalism and Ethics Seminar -passed a police background check RVTs wear many hats. Along with general patient care, they are: -surgical technicians -x-ray techs -nutritionists -behaviourists -receptionists -phlebotomists -laboratory technicians -patient and client care advocates RVTs don't diagnose medical problems, vaccinate, perform surgery or prescribe medication, however they are often the first person an owner speaks with about their pet’s care. As an RVT and owner of Pet Pedis, I offer in-home medical treatments for your pet as well as nail grooming. If your senior cat has been diagnosed with kidney failure and requires subcutaneous fluid injections, I can help. If your dog has an eye infection, but you need assistance giving the eye drops, contact Pet Pedis. Trust your pet’s care with a Registered Veterinary Technician and feel safe knowing your pet is getting the best care possible, while comfortable in your home.
