Is your back hurting you after lifting? Learn how to hip hinge! Watch this great video we created collaborating with the @moveu_official team. The hip hinge is ...one of the most important exercises for trainees to learn, before starting squats, deadlifts, kettlebell swings and in general for proper day to day movements. It looks simple but many trainees' bending patterns are faulty. For teaching the hip hinge exercise all you need is a wall and a dowel rod/stick. Ask your trainee to touch the wall with his buttocks, and make sure the dowel/stick remains in contact with the three points at all times. A. Head B. Thoracic Spine C. Sacrum Reverse the movement once you feel a big stretch in the hamstrings. However, individuals with superior hamstring flexibility will be able to descend to mid-shin level. If you have a short/average hamstring do not try to imitate them! Some people can lift with a posterior tilt and rounded back and be just fine. This isn’t the majority of the people we deal with though. We see people have MASSIVE improvements to their back pain when they learn to hip hinge.
