NEW RADIO SHOW DEDICATED TO LGBTQ MUSIC Q Review Founder Launches OUT LOUD Radio Show Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Q Review LGBTQ Music Project (Q Review) founder Kenney Fitzpatrick is working with local Halifax, Nova Scotia community station CIOE 97.5 FM to present a new weekly radio show dedicated to presenting the music from LGBTQ artists titled OUT LOUD.... Fitzpatrick says "It's surprising just how many members of the LGBTQ community have never heard country, rap, hip hop etc. from LGBTQ artists. No genre is off the table. This is a moment in time when we as music lovers have a responsibility to step up and ensure representation across all demographics and to champion the voices of our less visible corners of music. That includes our QPOC, Trans and gender non-conforming community members." Each week Out Loud will bring listeners the latest and best music from the LGBTQ music community. Although concentrated on Canadian artists, each week Out Loud will also be diving into the global releases to highlight what's happening in LGBTQ music around the world. The show will have guest artists, new releases, genre spotlights and more! "We'll also be looking at the challenges artists are facing in an ever changing music industry and specific issues affecting music artists from the LGBTQ community. Plus we'll be looking for new artists and listeners can suggest artists to play and have on the show! OUT LOUD broadcasts every Thursday at 10pm AST/9pm EST on CIOE 97.5 FM or streaming online at communityradio.ca CONTACT Kenney Fitzpatrick Founder, Q Review LGBTQ Music Project [email protected] qreview.ca

We are beyond grateful to Skittles!! They have made a wonderful donation to PFLAG Canada, Durham Region that we are just overwhelmed by. All of our programs and services are made possible by donations and volunteers. This can be quite an effort to fundraise for throughout the year, especially as we make sure Camp Rainbow Phoenix is free for our campers to attend. This donation means we can really focus on our work and giving back to our 2SLGBTQI community across Durham Region. Every little bit helps and we are so grateful.

On this day, October 20th, we usually host 'An Evening of Hope'. This year we are unable to be together in person. Please hold space for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. This memorial began after Shaquille Wisdom, a 13 year old Ajax student, died by suicide as a result of the homophobia and bullying he faced in 2007. Tonight, we remember him and the many others whose lives were taken far too short by bullying, homophobia and transphobia. Follow-up -- This week The Toronto Star printed a transphobic comic strip in their pages, and Toronto Pflag reacted on Twitter making it clear the strip was pro...blematic and offensive. A Pflag Community Member suggested our chapter President, Anne Creighton, follow-up with an email direct to the Public Editor of The Toronto Star, which led to a fuller conversation regarding the vile cartoon and our communities' reactions. Here is the resulting article and response from The Toronto Star and its Public Editor: "A comic fuels a hurtful stereotype in bid for a chuckle" https://www.thestar.com//a-comic-fuels-a-hurtful-stereotyp See more
