Spruce City Wildlife is a conservation club that was founded in 1970 to help ensure a sound long term management of BC’s fish, wildlife, park and outdoor recreational resources in the best interests of all British Columbians.... What a daya remarkable, inspirational, beautiful day for Terry and for cancer research. Despite missing the spirit and camaraderie of our community Runs, and f...acing a pandemic that has challenged us all, Canadians showed up for Terry with an enthusiasm and resilience that would have made him so proud. Walkers, bikers, hikers, swimmers, paddlers, families, friends, cancer survivors, young, older, newcomers, lifers, fundraisers, donors everyone did their part. It was a reflection of not only the love we have for Terry but our determination to make a difference, just like he did 40 years ago. Canada, you tried your best for Terryand it was magnificent. "Even though I'm not running anymore, we still have to try to find a cure for cancer. Other people should go ahead and try to do their own thing now." When Terr...y asked his best friend Doug Alward to take him to the hospital on September 1st, he never imagined he would not finish his Marathon of Hope. When that realization set in, Terry looked to Canadians to take his dream over that finish line. For the past 39 years, the second Sunday after Labour Day has been our amazing day to commemorate Terry’s effort and support our mission of finding a cure for cancer, in communities big and small. But in 2020, we all have to do our own thing, find our inner try. Whether it’s getting up to run or walk at 4:30am because that was Terry’s favourite time of day, or arranging for your house league teammates to FaceTime your way through a mid-day walk, make a call and make it happen. Whatever it is, it will be enough for Terry. And don’t forget to share your day your way - with us on social media. Tag @terryfoxfoundation and use the hashtag #TryLikeTerry

This Sunday, September 20th is the 40th Annual Terry Fox Run PG! Since we're not allowed to complete the event together this year, we are asking Prince George r...esidents to run, walk, bike, wheel or stroll the 5km's in a destination of their choice in Prince George! We also just learned that Jim Terrion and David McWalter will be walking 40 laps together at Masich Place Stadium this Sunday. Mr. McWalter will be donating $10.00 to The Terry Fox Foundation for every lap they complete. Thank you everyone for following our daily posts from Terry's Marathon of Hope journal from 40 years ago. The legacy of Terry Fox is close to the hearts of man...y Canadians. We remember his selflessness, determination and never-give-up attitude - values we admire and cherish. Our goal at the Terry Fox Centre is to ensure those values and his powerful, courageous story are shared with the next generation of Canadians as well as internationally. The Terry Fox Centre oversees thousands of artifacts from Terry's life and the Marathon of Hope and yet they are currently stored in boxes, far from public view. We believe it is imperative to preserve the collection, and develop ways to share this uniquely Canadian story. First, we want to document the expansive collection, then create a virtual museum all Canadians can access; and finally we hope to finalize our discussions around a permanent location for the Terry Fox Centre. We plan to continue to post, perhaps once a week, showing artifacts from the collection as we pursue our work towards a permanent location "for all things Terry". Please keep sharing with your friends and family and you can also sign up to your newsletter on our website for future updates.
