Recognizing Those Who are Missed The Memorial Tree is a beautiful symbol created to recognize the passing of the Alumni at Laurentian University. To confirm eligibility, the following steps must be taken. First, the passing of a School of Human Kinetics (SHK) Faculty or Administrative Staff member or a SHK Alumni member must be confirmed by an obituary, a relative, or a spouse. In the event there is no obituary, the individual submitting the name must inform the office when a...nd where the death occurred so that it may be investigated before adding to the tree. Names of eligible Faculty, Staff or Alumni should be forwarded to the School of Human Kinetics administrative office to be investigated, confirmed, and subsequently placed on the tree by an administrative office Staff or Faculty member. Any Alumni who attended Laurentian as a student must have fully graduated in order to have their name added on the tree. The Tree commemorates the following Alumni; Leena Makela, Susan Foy, Liz Pentland, Meredith Maloney, Ian Thompson, Lee G Morrison, Vic Pessot, Donna Tubman, Phil Siegal, Guy Vetrie, Richard Maunu, Sinikka Heikkila, Don Waddell, Bob Wilson, Irene Palmer, Pam Will (Smith), Jean Tihanyi, Len Shaw, Bob Jensen, John Dewar, Alison Marsh, Joy Bellinger, Gail Thornber, Micheal Chabrak, Eva Raiche, John McIlwain, Ron Preston, Ken Bahnuk, and Peter Enis. This Tree provides an opportunity to appreciate and remember those who have passed in the Human Kinetics community. These Alumni have made numerous contributions and left positive impacts throughout their years at Laurentian University.
