Today we celebrate our friends in the LGBTQ+ community, and recognize all of the struggles they have faced!
Please watch my update below:
Congratulations to Constable Tammie Staples for winning the OACP School Resource Officer Award of Excellence! Your dedication to the community is remarkable!
Happy National Nursing Week! This week is an opportunity to show appreciation for the nurses who have demonstrated courage, resiliency and adaptability throughout the pandemic. Thank you for all the work you do to keep our community safe!
Today I sent a letter to Minister Blair regarding securing the border. The government’s failure to secure the border and prevent the spread of variants has cost Canadians their lives and livelihoods. We have a small window of opportunity to act, and we must move now. Please read my letter below and join the fight in securing the border by signing this petition: http://philiplawrencemp.ca/secure-the-border/
Today, on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the millions of lives lost. Let this serve as a reminder of the antisemitism that still exists today, and the responsibility we all share to end racism and discrimination in all forms. #weremember
Today is Lincoln Alexander Day, a day to honour and remember the first black Member of Parliament!
Some good news coming out of Northumberland today.... Six organizations in Northumberland have been awarded Cameco grants for mental health initiatives! The funding has totalled $43,500 for mental health projects that will benefit Northumberland County. Mental Health is important, especially during these hard times, and I’m glad to see a priority placed on the training and support of these important initiatives!
"Canada sits at just 1.44% of our population vaccinated, well behind the pace of other nations. A month after many influencers suggested the federal government was on the right track with their vaccination plan, the evidence is clear that we’re far from that." An excellent article from Conservative Shadow Minister for Health, the Hon. Michelle Rempel Garner!
Poutine drive-through at Brimacombe? Sounds like a good Friday night to me! #supportlocal
The rocks in these photos, placed at the Newcastle Cenotaph, were painted by the children at Newcastle Public School. While Remembrance Day may be different this year, we will continue to find new ways to pay our respect.
Small businesses who apply for the wage subsidy are amongst the hardest hit by COVID-19 across the country. We need to give small businesses time to recover.
Lest we forget.
Today I stood in the House of Commons to talk about my Private Members Bill, Bill C-206, which would exempt farmers from paying the Liberal Carbon Tax on gasoline, diesel fuel, propane and gasoline.
The Minister for National Revenue says that she has no control over the CRA, however we have seen her direct them on multiple occasions. We know that small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and will continue to stand up for workers and entrepreneurs across Canada.
WATCH LIVE: Today I am joined by my colleagues MP Pat Kelly, Shadow Minister for Small Business, and MP Bernard Généreux, as we renew our call to end the punishing audits on small businesses! 19 days ago Conservatives passed a motion to end the wage subsidy audits on small businesses. The Liberals voted against the motion and have failed to take action and end the wage subsidy audits.
We need to support our small businesses!
ATTENTION PETERBOROUGH RESIDENTS A member of our community, Brett LeBlanc, has been missing since last Tuesday. He was last seen at Trent University. He is described as a white male, five feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 169 pounds with brown medium length hair and a thin moustache. He was last reported as wearing white high-top sneakers.... If anyone has any information about the whereabouts of Brett LeBlanc, please call the police at 705-876-1122.
WATCH LIVE: The justice system is supposed to be a safe place for victims of sexual assault. Coming forward and reporting assault to police is hard enough without having to worry about fighting the justice system. We need to do everything we can to ensure that victims of sexual assault are supported; the justice system is the last thing victims should fear. ... Bill C-3 is the positive change we need to begin to make Canada a safer place, and I will be supporting it wholeheartedly.
FYI: you MUST apply for the Disability Tax Credit by December 31st, 2020 to be considered for the one-time payment!
This week is #MentalIllnessAwarenessWeek and I want to take a moment to talk about the important realities of mental illness. COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on an already prominent issue, the mental health and well-being of Canadians. Lockdowns have led to increased alcohol and substance abuse, and suicide across Canada. Let’s work together to remove the stigma around and strengthen support for mental health.
Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government has left more than $372 million meant to help veterans and their families unspent since taking office in November 2015. The Liberal Government can't give veterans the care that they need, but now we're learning that they will spend over $200,000 fighting a veteran in court? Unbelievable.

Thank you to all of our amazing teachers for the amazing work that you do! Your perseverance has allowed many students, including my own children, to continue to learn throughout the pandemic!
Today I want to take a moment to congratulate the Cobourg Public Library on celebrating its 25th anniversary!
This September 30th people across Canada are wearing orange to remember the victims of the residential school system. While today serves as an opportunity to reflect on such a painful part of Canadian history, it is an important reminder of the work that still needs to be done on the path towards reconciliation.
It was great to come out and support my fellow lions today at the Bewdley and District Lions Club Drive-Thru BBQ in support of the local food bank! Today from 2-6pm!
Looking for something to do on this beautiful Saturday in the Northumberland area? Stop by the Park Place Presquile Park in Brighton from 11-7pm today for the Dog Park Fundraiser, and enjoy some delicious funnel cakes! P.s. The kids picked up some handmade dog scarves for Foxy and Daisy (handmade in Brighton and sold and shipped internationally)!
Great to support Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre's Walk A Mile event, where I strapped on a pair of red heels to show my support for local women and children impacted by family violence! #mywalkmyway
After proroguing Parliament for 6 weeks to shut down various studies into his ethics violations, Justin Trudeau’s new throne speech contained nothing new. We need a government ready to get to work for Canadians!
Ready to watch the Speech from the Throne from my office in Cobourg!
It was great to speak to members of the Northumberland agriculture community yesterday evening!
