Wind through the Cathedral 30 x 30 SOLD Pine Island is a great place to paddle, to hike and enjoy. There is a neat sort of energy about the island. It’s wild and rugged with hidden, challenging paths that lead to vistas to explore. Anyone who knows the area feels at home there. @killarney200 #killarneyontario #philosopherswalk_art #wind #ontarioartist #artforsalebyartist

30 x 30 on the easel. It’s time to paint again. I find if I don’t, part of me is lost...

Sometimes you have to know when to leave a painting alone so you capture a better mood and better light. Knowing when to step back and thinking, is just as important as the work. It’s all a part of the journey needed for the process.

New Years is here friends! It's time for my annual New Year's Art Challenge. I hope that some of my new friends can receive a gift from me. I am expanding this to all of my social media platforms, so good luck! I promise to make a small artwork for the first ten people who follow these 3 important instructions: 1. Share this post to your stories and tag me in it & make sure you are following my page. 2. Elephants have always been my favourite symbol for luck. This year ...I would love in return, a drawing of an elephant! It doesn’t have to be fantastic but I love the idea of encouraging you to draw too! Any materials no skill necessary. So please send me your own drawing of an elephant for luck for the new year. 3. inbox me your mailing address or email me: [email protected] You will receive a piece of art made by me sometime during 2021. Completed work available by Danielle Gardner Through the years at OSA 30 x 48 Filled with nostalgia, hope some of you can recall some fun times camping while looking at this new finished piece. Have any of you been to the lovely blue waters of OSA Lake in Killarney Provincial Park?... I love that both of my children are growing up with this painting and all of our camping memories. The first time I painted on this canvas was in 2010 and my oldest was 3 years of age and now, my 5 year old has fond memories of trips and day-trips here. We picnicked on this island with our dogs. From Wikipedia: The origin of the park is owed to the conservation efforts of artists. Canadian Group of Seven artist A. Y. Jackson was so alarmed by the prospect that Trout Lake (now O.S.A. Lake) was about to be logged that he petitioned the Provincial government of the day to have it preserved. His letter was received by William Finlayson, then the Minister of Lands and Forests, resulting in a successful conclusion. The lake was taken into trust by the Ontario Society of Artists and its name was changed to O.S.A. Lake. Jackson's efforts were rewarded with the naming of a lake after him on his 90th birthday. The hills and lakes in the Killarney area became a popular place for painting and csketching and over the years several other members of the Group of Seven worked there including Franklin Carmichael, Arthur Lismer and A. J. Casson. In 1959 the Killarney Park area was set aside as a wilderness preserve. In 1962 Highway 637 opened, connecting the north shore of Georgian Bay all the way from the town of Killarney to the Trans-Canada Highway. Finally in 1964, with the help of lobbying efforts by the Group of Seven, 4,000 square miles (10,000 km2) of Georgian Bay shoreline were set aside as a wilderness reserve, and Killarney became a provincial park.
