Medivac came into Owen Sound today using the GPS Approach allowing them to break through the misty rain and cloud. Transporting a patient to the Hospital. Once crew was set to depart they were called to do another flight up North and then required Jet Fuel top up to get them to their destination.

The Heliport at the GBHC Owen Sound is currently closed to Helicopter Medivac Flights. Over the coming weeks you may notice more traffic at the Owen Sound Billy Bishop Regional Airport. The Airport because of its close proximity to the Hospital will be utilized for all the Medivac Flights while the Heliport is under construction to do upgrades to it's landing pad and installation of new LED lighting. Work on the Helipad will continue into December. Both fixed wing and Helicopters will utilize the runway at The Owen Sound Airport and the ambulance service will shuttle patients that require being air lifted to and from the hospital to the airport. The airport normally sees 2 to 5 Medivac Flights per week alone and is here to support dozens of more flights to the airport until the Helipad is back in service.

On Friday October 30th 2020 the Orange Helicopter brought in a medical team to the GBRHC Grey Bruce Regional Health Center for a patient that needed to be transported to London for immediate medical attention. After dropping off the team at the hospital the pilots came over to the Owen Sound Billy Bishop Regional Airport for Jet Fuel for the trip to London. You will see in the video the pilots warming up helicopter and going through the check list pre flight before moving ont...o the runway and lifting off going back over to the hospital to pick up the medical team and patient for the flight to London. Because of the close proximity of the Regional airport to the Regional Hospital it is a common occurrence to see many of these flights and necessary refueling each month throughout the year. Flights can be throughout the day durring normal operating hours however many are between the hours of 7pm and 5am . See more

C130 Hercules flew over Owen Sound Billy Bishop Regional Airport this after noon dropping paratroopers and a simulated emergency kit onto the midfield grass area if the airport. Then they landed, did a live retrieval of the emergency kit and paratroopers before departing for a return flight to Trenton.
