Going forward I will only be taking a limited amount of custom orders. At this time I am not taking any orders. My life is full! No time to fit my work in any more! I feel like I’m letting my customers down and that’s not fair. When I’m not too busy on the ranch I will take a few orders now and then. But in the meantime I have to focus finishing up the ones I’m working on and living my life. I never thought after almost 12 years of doing this nearly full time that I would do this, but life changes I guess! Change is inevitable and in my case very necessary and a huge blessing. I’m in a much better place! I already miss it so much though. I have had the best customers any one could ask for and it’s the most rewarding and humbling work.

This one was a learning experience! And I always love learning new skills and expanding my business. Love the leather work but wow, a lot of work! I have a new found respect for leatherworkers! The hours that go into even a small piece are crazy. This one is. 1.25 leather brow band for a headstall with a braided horse hair inlay. Oiled and hand dyed leather, hand stitched, tapered ends, burnished edges and finished with an acrylic resolene to protect it. I am quite happy with how it turned out!

I can hardly believe I made this! When I was finishing up this brow band with horse hair inlay I just couldn’t stop looking at it! And yes, it is such a simple piece of tack. But I have never done any leather work, this was my first attempt at punching holes and hand stitching leather. Not to mention the bevelling ,oiling, burnishing and so much more. I spent many hours learning how to put this together before I even got started. There are so many steps that go into a simple piece like this! I am so thrilled with the outcome!

Sneak peak at my latest creation! Leather cuff bracelet with a horse hair inlay!!!! I have been researching these for awhile, still have some tweaking to do but finally have it figured out (kind of!) This is all hand cut inlay. Hand dyed leather. A true labour of love! I made this one with a little piece of tail hair I stole from my Palomino mares tail. The best thing about these bracelets is that it will be a good option for shorter hair or mane hair that’s not quite long en...ough or suitable for a regular bracelet. I’ll be able to make the inlay shorter. I could even stamp a name into the leather with a shorter inlay. Another stunning triple wrap bracelet, this one is was done with the tail hair of 2 horses mixed together. Black and white. It is possible to keep the colours separated when doing bracelets from multiple horses but when the colours are very different it can be a big contrast. I think mixing the colours is a softer, more subtle look. Blends better with the natural stones and leather as well.

Sometimes I think that I was born to do this work. I’m not good at many things but I think I’m pretty good at helping people deal with losing their horses. I’ve been through a lot in my life. I’ve lost horses. And I’ve lost a lot of people. I’ve dealt with a lot of loss. A lot of grief and sadness. So I know how important it is to hold on to a part of those who have passed over. I saw these blue Quartz crystal beads on one of the stores I order from, in my mind I thought ‘wo...w those need to be with Palomino hair’. So I included them with my regular bead order. No more than a week later I opened a package of hair and there was the most beautiful long Palomino mane hair. She didn’t ask for these beads, I suggested them. And I’m so glad I did. I normally don’t do mane hair bracelets but this one worked. The hair was exceptional. Perfect. Such a cool keychain! This one is made from mane hair. This horse has a beautiful, long mixed colour mane. Ended up one side dark and one side light, you can see both colours in the braid. Mane hair can be difficult to braid but when it works out the results are stunning!
