Another great method for baking bread! #Repost @montessoriinmotion with @get_repost Now is the perfect time to work with your child in the kitchen. Working together to prepare meals has become a time for connection and learning for our family. Baking bread has become an almost daily task and is a favorite of my children. We’ve been using the bread recipe from the Recipe Guide. I love to see how Camden (5) and Marley (2) use the visual recipe in different way...s. Camden loves to measure ingredients out himself and Marley likes to make sure she is adding things in the right order. Sometimes they work side by side and other times they chose to each make their own loaf, like today. Baking with two (or more!) children can definitely be a challenge. Here are some tips to help everyone work together: Measure ingredients out ahead of time- older children can help with this. Lay out ingredients before inviting both children to come work. I usually put half on one side and half on the other to help them divide jobs evenly. Give them a chance to work out who does what, but if that isn’t working well, help assign jobs and ask one child to put their hands behind their backs while the other works. Consider splitting high value jobs. In our house, they both love stirring so I give them each a spoon. Try to chose a time to bake when everyone is calm. Turn taking skills are challenging to learn, so expect some hiccups. The more often you bake together, the easier it will become. There's no such thing as bad weather...only bad clothing!

"Good job" implies that we are the ones who judge our children's work and behavior, rather than empowering them to reflect upon their own efforts. How often do you catch yourself saying 'good job'? It's ok we've all said it at some point.

Both Ms. Fernandes (Elementary) and Mrs. Ferrante (Vice Principal) have a lot of hair to cut off! Support their fundraising efforts by making a donation either by the inch or all at once! Their hair will go to either Pantene, Wigs for Kids or the Canadian Cancer Society depending on how many votes each one gets. The funds raised will go to Phoenix’s ‘Giving Tree’ program which give financial aid to families committed to an authentic Montessori Education. One of our students found some abandon kittens it his backyard. His family would like to find some great homes for them if possible before turning them over to the local shelter. If you are interested they will be at the school at the end of the day. Thank you
