Official Cancellation Notice To all our Phoenix Family & Patrons; The Phoenix Players' Board of Directors met recently to discuss the status of our show "Becky's New Car" that was originally slated to go up at the end of March this year.... We had originally delayed due to COVID, and have been waiting with the rest of the world to see what the status is for gatherings, and what that means for live performing arts. We have made the decision to permanently cancel Becky's New Car, in order to be able to wait until a time where we can mount productions to the standard we have set for ourselves, and our audiences have come to expect. While we are not happy about this decision, we do believe it is in the best interest of everyone involved in the production, the audience, and the theatre. If you have previously purchased a ticket for the production of Becky's New Car, you can contact the Gladstone Theatre Box Office at (613) 233-4523. August 17, 2020 A Statement from the Phoenix Players; Phoenix Players believes in creating quality theatre in a safe, inclusive environment. We are deeply concerned and saddened to learn of the allegations of inappropriate behaviour committed by the (now former) manager of The Gladstone Theatre and others in the Ottawa Theatre Community. This is intolerable behavior. ... As a resident theatre company with The Gladstone Theatre, we will do everything we can to ensure that our presence supports and creates a safe environment for all of us involved in the Ottawa Theatre Community. We stand by the victims, we are listening to your stories, and we have already reached out to begin participating in group discussions with representatives of the Ottawa Theatre Community that will ensure that this behavior will not be allowed to continue within our communities.
