I have found that proper setup of cartridges can make a huge difference in the quality of the sound. There is a bit of an art to alignment and I can happily offer cartridge installation. Lets just say there is more to the task than setting tracking force. So protect your records, your stylus and your ears from a poorly installed cartridge and badly tracking stylus.

Service work on a Thorens TD124. You can see the hardened yellow grease on the platter shaft and bearing. The platter turned but would not hold speed at all, the bearing was totally frozen in the grease. Cluth mechanism adjusted to not drag on platter and strobe window cleaned up. All the internals were cleaned and got a fresh lube job. elan 1000 tonearm balanced with VTA set correctly. After the work the old girl holds speed like a rock, shifts speeds perfectly and tonearm tracks like an Ace!

This Dual 1229 had the fully cleanup done to it. Even polished up the original RCA connections underneath. Before the servicing this Dual had speed selector stuck, covered in 40 year old grease that had turned into a hard yellow paste. Afterwards switches all worked 100%, speed control was spot on and sounded great.
