It’s been a while since I’ve seen my photos published on actual newsprint! I shot a series of photos of the rustic McDiarmid family cabin in Tofino for the Victoria Times Colonist newspaper’s House Beautiful feature recently and my lovely neighbour brought me a copy of the newspaper. Seeing my work in an actual newspaper evokes so many memories of my years working in a newsroom as a full-time photojournalist. My photojournalism career began in newspapers where I worked on... staff at the Medicine Hat News and Victoria Times Colonist so many years ago. I eventually freelanced full-time for the Globe and Mail, National Post, Canadian Press (CP) wire service, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, LA Times, Associated Press (AP), etc as well as so many other major newspapers in the USA and magazines worldwide. In our online, digital world, I don’t know many people who still get a real, tangible newspaper delivered to their door.
