Starting the week off right by sharing a testimonial from our 93 year old client about her experience working withPhysio2U therapist Josh Bellingham after hip surgery. "To date I have had two sessions with Josh and I am very satisfied. At age 93 I was reluctant to attend hip replacement post-surgery rehab at LGH which would involve set class times and Handi-Dart transportation plus Covid problems. I have found this an excellent alternative. Josh is great to work with. He h...as been able to zero in on my individual strengths and weaknesses and has gone over the specific exercises I need. I am making excellent progress." - Client Physio2U empowering clients and providing accessible physical therapy for all in the comfort and safety of your own home. www.physio2u.ca

We are nearing the end of 2020 and there is no shortage of anxiety out there. Whether you are low-key stressed or are affected by an anxiety disorder, exercise can help manage symptoms of anxiety. Research shows 15-30 minutes of low to moderate exercise 3 days per week eases anxiety. Low to moderate exercise is best. Good options are hiking, power walking, jogging, swimming laps, mindful strength training and yoga.... Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2021.

Sharing simple exercises you can start doing today to improve your balance and help reduce your risk of experiencing a fall. Calf raises - a great exercise to help improve overall balance, improve muscle strength of the lower leg, and extension of the ankle joint. Try to complete 3 sets of 10-15 reps. 1. Calf Raises - can be performed seated or standing. Simply raise and lower your heels off of the ground.... 2. Standing Calf Raise, feet shoulder width - more advanced. Please hold onto a stable support (chair, table, wall) when performing this exercise. 3. Standing Calf Raise, feet narrow - more advanced, requires more balance and stability then having your feet shoulder width. Please hold onto a stable support when performing this exercise. 4. One leg balance - holding onto a stable support lift one foot off of the ground and hold for 10 sec and switch sides. Repeat 3 times. Try these exercises today and let us know how you did! www.physio2u.ca

Back pain is something we all experience at some point and is the most common reason for missed days at work. Good news, most causes of back pain is not serious and can be resolved in a few days to weeks. Typically, back pain is caused by poor posture (think not ideal work at home set-ups!), lack of movement (we are moving less during COVID-19), sitting for long periods of time (our bodies need movement breaks after being in a seated position for just 30 minutes). If you are... experiencing minor aches and pains in your back see a physiotherapy for general strengthening and to improve your overall health. Did you know Physio2U therapists can visit you at home or at the office? Did you know physiotherapy is covered by most extended health plans. There is still time to use your 2020 health benefits. Book your appointment today! Let Physio2U come to you! Call 778-846-7695.

The power of human connection. Physio2U is passionate about staying connected to our clients and community members. It is especially important to connect with the elders in our community and check in to ensure they are feeling supported, have the tools and resources to stay active and well both physically and mentally during this challenging time. Social connection is important for our health. Connecting with others lowers anxiety, lowers depression, helps to regulate our emo...tions, increases self-esteem and empathy. We have always provided Wellness Talks in person to seniors living in retirement communities. During COVID-19 we are continuing to offer these talks but they look a little different these days. We are hosting Wellness Talks and teaching exercises virtually. Some Retirement communities have been very innovative with continuing to offer education opportunities such as our talks to their residents. It is vital to continue to learn as we age, it is vital to continue to be active as we age, it is vital to stay connected as we age. Thank you to all the senior living residences who have brought us into their communities via a screen to connect with your residents, brighten their day, exercise and best of all have a little fun! Wishing everyone a healthy and safe Friday and weekend ahead. www.physio2u.ca

Physio2U appreciates that not only the members of our team take cleanliness very seriously, but our place of work does too! At our Fall Social last week, the WeWork office had hand sanitizer, designated "safe sitting" spaces, and a roomy indoor space for us to meet since the weather was too smoky to hold the event outdoors. With case numbers on the rise here in BC, we are happy to report that all of our therapists are healthy and dedicated to keeping you healthy as well! All that time sitting lets our glute muscles be lazy - but you can try this exercise to wake your butt up to help support your low back! Glute raises also improve the functioning and alignment of your hips and pelvis, which leads to better posture. 1. Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet about hip-distance apart. Keep your feet about a foot away from your hips - don't have them right up against your bum! 2. Rest your arms alongside your body with your palms f...acing down 3. Exhale and you use your glutes lift your hips up towards the ceiling 4. Hold this position for one long inhale and exhale, then release Repeat 10 times and let us know how you feel! #physio #physiotherapy #physio2u #inhomephysio #inhomephysiotherapy #mobilephysio #mobilephysiotherapy #physiocanhelp #empoweringlives #gluteraises

Physio2U 25.05.2020

Today's exercise can help relieve pain and tightness in your back while increasing stability and mobility. Try it out and tell us how your body feels! 1. Come onto all fours on the ground 2. Place one hand behind your head with your elbow out to the side. Your other hand can stay under the shoulder or you can move it center if you feel unstable. 3. Exhale as you rotate your elbow up toward the ceiling and stretch the front of your torso... 4. Take one long inhale and exhale in this position, then release Repeat 5 to 10 times on each side! #physio #physiotherapy #physio2u #inhomephysio #inhomephysiotherapy #mobilephysio #mobilephysiotherapy #physiocanhelp #empoweringlives #thoracicspinerotation

Physio2U 22.05.2020

Many of us have spent the past several months hunched over in front of our computers, and that has surely done some damage to our posture! Try this chest opener exercise to help you stand up straighter! 1. Stand with your feet about hip-width apart 2. Bring your arms behind you and interlace your fingers with your palms pressing together. (you can hold a towel if your hands can't reach!) 3. Keep your head, neck, and spine in one line as you gaze straight ahead... 4. Inhale as you lift your chest towards the ceiling and bring your hands toward the floor 5. Breathe deeply as you hold this pose for 5 breaths. Don't forget to squeeze your bum to help protect your low back! 6. Release and relax for a few breaths. Repeat 10 times and see how you feel! #physio #physiotherapy #physio2u #inhomephysio #inhomephysiotherapy #mobilephysio #mobilephysiotherapy #physiocanhelp #empoweringlives #chestopener

One last reminder for this week! Mandatory mask policies are becoming more common around the province to help limit the spread of COVID-19. These include: -BC Ferries has mandated that masks are required for all passengers on board during the entirety of the voyage, beginning August 24th -Translink has mandated that masks are required for all transit users while on board transit vehicles, beginning August 24th -Several grocery store chains, including Wal-Mart, Real Canadian S...uperstore and No Frills, now require masks or face coverings to be worn. Face masks can be worn to help protect those around you, and should be worn by people who are sick. It's important to note that wearing a mask should be combined with other important preventative measures such as frequent hand washing and physical distancing. Rest assured, since the start of our return to in-home physiotherapy treatments, our therapists have all been wearing masks and taking other necessary precautions to help keep you and our community safe and healthy. #physio #physiotherapy #physio2u #inhomephysio #inhomephysiotherapy #mobilephysio #mobilephysiotherapy #physiocanhelp #empoweringlives #wearamask #masks #flattenthecurve #covid19 #bekindbecalmbesafe
