#Noisykneesarehappy The job of a good physio is often to dispel common myths surrounding our bodies. Often these myths have been ingrained in society for some time. They can make people worry unnecessarily and cause them to view their bodies negatively. This can unfortunately lead to a person leading a more sedentary lifestyle and often fuel a desire for unnecessary surgical intervention. ... One common misconception that can contribute to this, is the idea that popping or clicking knees are always linked to having a problem within them. These noises are often referred to by physios as crepitus and may actually be a sign of healthy and well-lubricated knees. So, if you have crepitus and don’t have pain, then try not to worry about your knees. The noise is most likely because of fluid behind the kneecap moving and not an indication of a joint issue. A more positive message to spread is that Noisy Knees are Happy Knees!! Share with someone you know with happy knees!!

This exercise is a great way to activate the core and hip stabilisation muscles ready for hockey season. On ice, this will help you maintain a strong torso and hip position as one foot pushes and the other foot glides. Use a small towel under your moving foot to help it move.

Many people with a diagnosis of Knee Osteoarthritis (OA) often wonder if the running was to blame for their OA and if continuation of running will make them worse. The great news for runners is that the science suggests that the incident of OA is HIGHER in non-runners compared to runners and that running does NOT always increase symptoms or structural changes in those with Knee Osteoarthritis. Some modifications may be needed to training loads and intensity, but the...se studies really challenges the common miss-conception that running is bad for your knees in the first place. Hopefully this will encourage people to Run On! For help with OA and how to modify your running if needed then give PhysioNorth a call. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6095814/.

If you’re wondering how Physios can help you via Telerehab then check out the video below. Interesting fact, research shows that hands on therapy only contributes to 15% of the outcome. The rest is with the individual and their patient-therapist relationship. If you are in pain, Telerehab is a good way to maintain and build on this relationship. Listening and moving are key. ...
