Update on Mason Hamlin Grand rebuild. The string and the pencil marks you see is where I had to figure out where the new bridge pins and strings will be located. The last picture is the new tuning pin block. I fitted it into the case and glued it in. Next step is drill all the new bridge pin holes!!

Up date on Mason Hamlin grand. The new tuning pin pinblock is made and fitted perfectly to the cast iron piano plate. The fit to the plate flange has to be perfect. The piano has 20 ton pulling pressure on the plate when the piano is tuned up to concert pitch. Next step is to drill the tuning pin holes than fit the pinblock into the pianos case.

Update on the Mason Hamlin Grand. Next step is making the new pinblock. The pinblock is the part the tuning pins go into. The new pinblock has to fit perfect or the piano will never hold a tune.

Update on the MH soundboard install. The cast iron plate fits good. When you look at the other pictures you will see how close the bridges are to the cast iron plate. Like I said in the other post there is no room for error!!

The soundboard is glued in. Everything went well. This glue job was a family affair. We do work great together!!! Sometimes!! Lol

This grand we refinished and rebuilt a couple years ago. The pianos case was in really bad shape when it came into our shop!! I am posting this picture again to show people why junk theses old grand pianos. The cases are beautiful!!

This Heintzman grand we did turned out good. When the piano came into the shop the finish was checked and and very dark!

I am making new soundboard ribs for Mason Hamlin Grand Piano. This jig crowns the rib stock. If you look close at the pictures you will notice it’s nice and flat in the middle and has a gap at the ends. This helps the new soundboard hold a nice crown for years to come.

Walid and I are tracing and cutting out a new soundboard for this Mason Hamlin Grand.

The Soundboard is out and ribs and bridges removed from this Mason Hamlin Grand. First step is removing old glue from the piano rim and removing the old bridge caps. Then I will start making the new soundboard ribs and glueing new caps onto the bridges.
