Lisa is a happy, upbeat person almost all of the time--- But even she has days where she just want to sit at the piano and feel her feelings! Today we are going to look back at one of our most popular lessons, and we are going to show you how you can create a really beautiful, moody melody using only 3 notes in the right hand! You'll even be able to play this if you're not a piano player!... If you're not playing music, but you want to be -- make sure you check out our free beginner course: https://pianote.com/getting-started From lisa: You'll notice in this one that I'm playing 4 notes, not 3. BUT the 4th note is just a repeat of the same G note I played at the top. So we are still only using 3 notes - we're just repeating one of them. I love how versatile this melody line is, and I would really encourage you to try it in different keys. A good key to move to is E minor, because there is only one sharp. So for Em, the chord progression would be Em - C - D - Bm, and the notes to play in the right hand would be F#-G-D. Try it out! What I love about this is how simple it is, yet it creates such a beautiful mood and feeling. Music doesn't have to be super complicated or advanced for us to be able to express ourselves. So give it a go!

I just love Elton John, and especially "Your Song". The lyrics were written by Bernie Taupin, Elton's long-time collaborator. He said he wrote the words while sitting at the kitchen table of Elton's mother's apartment and later called the lyrics 'naive and childish'.... I think they're beautiful.

If there’s one exercise that I think is best for developing finger control, speed, and dexterity it has to be Hanon. These exercises are named after their creator, Charles-Louis Hanon and were published in 1873. There is criticism that the exercises are not musical enough, but I think there is still a lot of value in them. The exercise we’ll be focusing on today is the very first one. It’s a simple pattern, but it’s one we can vary to help develop control, hand independence..., rhythm, and dynamics. Download the music for FREE here: https://pianote.s3.amazonaws.com/blog/pdf/Hanon-1.pdf

Even though "Don't Let Me Down" by The Chainsmokers is an EDM song, I still think it sounds great with just the Piano part. The chords are easy! I'm only using E-B-F#-G#m to play the song in its original key. I hope you enjoy it!
