Tomorrow is an extra special day in our family . My baby’s 5th birthday falls on mother’s day - two days that are very special to me ... I still remember the night before my first chemo when she was 5 months old. Sitting in the dark rocking her back and forth, and nursing her for the last time ever, bawling my eyes out. I was scared out of my mind, and scared she would grow up with no mom, and no memory of me I had just been diagnosed with #triplenegativebreastcancer the week before, and I knew this type often had a very poor prognosis. I was terrified... I wondered if I was going to be there for her 1st birthday. This first picture was taken on her first birthday. I still felt so sick, my face bloated from 6 months of steroids and intensive chemo, but I couldn’t stop smiling because I was there I am here 4 more years later, on the eve of her 5th birthday, and I will never take a birthday or holiday for granted. Gratitude was one of the best lessons that time in our lives taught me Nothing in life is guaranteed, and I am grateful for all of it. What a year this has been, longest year ever in many ways (and oh yay, still 2 more days to go ) . Some days I wonder how we plowed through with a growing business, work stresses, kids at home for months on end, and separation from friends and family ... . I always try to find the silver lining (silver sliver?), because that’s just my nature - so what did I come up with for this interesting (terrifying, uncertain, crazy) year? . 1. Lots of time spent with the kids Like, so much time ... and some days I wished for a teeny bit LESS of it BUT, we also made a lot of great memories 2. Our business grew in a different way than we had imagined Markets were canceled, and times became very uncertain, but man did the support local movement take off in #yqr If I could, I would give each one of you a big hug - or a high five if hugs aren’t your thing. Or maybe just an air high five, because Covid. . 3. We spent a lot of time outdoors, and camping, more than any other year Dylan is still scared of bugs, so it didn’t come without some challenges And being in a tent with 3 small kids for weeks on end is not for the faint of heart, but we saw the mountains, ate lots of s’mores, and braved the bugs . Christmas 2016 & Christmas 2020 A lot has changed in those 4 years, and a lot has stayed the same The first picture shows a mom, recently diagnosed with cancer, tired and sick, trying to make Christmas magical for her kids. Scared that this would be her last Christmas with them. ... The second picture, taken yesterday - shows a mom grateful she has had yet another Christmas with her kids, the baby in her lap now a lanky 4 year old. Since the first picture, I have been gifted with 4 more years. I’ve started a business that I am so passionate about, making natural and eco-friendly products for people. And I am so grateful I am still here to try and make Christmas magical for these little girls Christmas has been different for many of us this year, but I hope you were able to find some magic in it, in spite of these differences. Since Monday I have made over 300 conditioner bars and have about 100 left to go tomorrow - I love when I can get really stocked up on a customer favourite! ... . Our conditioner bars come in 4 different varieties: VANILLA CITRUS (yes like a creamsicle) ROSEMARY MINT (fresh and Christmas-y) SANDALWOOD LIME (still no lime emoji!?) LAVENDER LEMON (one of my fave combos!) . After you rinse your shampoo suds out, take your conditioner bar and wet it, then rub it into your hair.
