"Our first point of mobilization is to prayer." As part of the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC), The Salvation Army has been invited to participate in a Global Day of Prayer and Fasting this Sunday, March 29, as part of the Christian churchs wider response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The EFC has partnered with the World Evangelical Alliance in this endeavour. Fasting can be defined as abstaining from anything that hinders prayer. Maybe there is something that you will... choose to fast from in order that you may spend more time in prayer. Sunday, March 29, is also The Salvation Armys International Day of Prayer for Children and Youth. Thank you to all who will take some time and pray for the children in our world. Majors Keith and Shona Pike says, "The power of prayer cannot be underestimated and, in this time of uncertainty, we want our children and youth to know they are not alone. They are not isolated from their God!" These two prayer initiatives provide a foundation upon which we join together as a global Salvation Army, and as part of the global church. Lets dedicate this Sunday to worshipful reflection and prayer.
Join us this Sunday, March 22, at 9 a.m. EDT for a special online worship service led by Commissioners Floyd and Tracey Tidd, territorial leaders. Visit Salvati...onist.ca/Sunday While our Salvation Army corps are not meeting in person due to COVID-19, we can still gather virtually and praise God together.
As we follow directives from THQ and public health agencies, all Salvation Army church services and programs will be cancelled until April 30th. We encourage you to find creative ways to reach out to each other in this troubling and difficult time. Take time to phone a neighbor or pray for one another. Our Food Bank remains open to serve those in need in our community.... At this time, we are reminded of words from Psalm 46:1-3, 10-11: "God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way, and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging... Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress."

Picton Community Church will be closed tomorrow, March 15th. Please see message from our territorial leaders below. Our prayers are with each of you and your families. A MESSAGE FROM THE TERRITORIAL LEADERS: Greetings in the name of Christ, ... As we continue to monitor developments noting how quickly things are changing regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, we are providing an update to our message of yesterday afternoon. With new directives being provided by Ministries of Health, Public Health and local municipalities, it has been decided that we will cancel worship services for tomorrow, Sunday March 15th. Our social services supporting others in our communities will continue ensuring that the utmost care is taken acting consistent with the Public Health directives. Although we will not be gathering for worship, we continue to embrace the call to be a people of prayer and compassion for ourselves and our community. In our private devotions and prayers with others in our families let us pray for those directly affected by the Covid19 virus especially the sick and those who serve in the health care professions. We would encourage corps officers and local leaders to find ways to connect with members of their corps and congregations as possible to check-in and encourage, recognising that there will be those who will miss the opportunity for fellowship and encouragement in such a time as we find ourselves. We will continue to monitor the developments and communicate regularly in the coming days. May God bless his Salvation Army in these days around the globe that we might fulfill his purpose bringing blessing to others, Giving Hope Today, when its needed most. Thank you for your sensitive pastoral leadership to our people and in our corps and communities. Blessings Commissioners Floyd & Tracey Tidd Territorial Leaders, Canada and Bermuda
